As you can see from the picture below I love to change out my kitchen tablecloths for the season. I also use vinyl tablecloths for everyday, when I have lots of baking and chores to get done. They provide a clean and colorful workspace. I can bake cookies, decorate cupcakes, quickly clean up and then be ready to fold laundry in the same space. For my early Autumn tablecloth I chose a sunflower and pumpkin pattern. As you can also tell, from looking at the Hoosier Cabinet in the back I like antique furniture. I could easily ruin the wooden kitchen table beneath the vinyl tablecloth some days. So I prefer to cover it up. If I want to serve dinner in the kitchen I'm all set.

I chose a pumpkin and sunflower pattern for my vinyl tablecloth because I can put it out shortly after Labor Day and keep it on through the Thanksgiving Day weekend. I doubt if I'd feel comfortable with a turkey vinyl tablecloth so early in the Fall. The sunflowers provide a wonderful link with summer and are the perfect transitional flower. As you can see from the silly pumpkin decoration that put out, I love pumpkins just as much. I picked up the Hoosier Cabinet at a thrift shop and the pumpkin decoration was on the roadside for free. Someday I'll get out my paintbrushes and change Anne and Brian to Digby and Matt. But for now we just laugh about having imaginary friends coming for dinner.

Thanksgiving vinyl tablecloths are the perfect solution to large raucus family gatherings. I much prefer to enjoy my family, than worry about the condition of my tablecloth. Although as us kids have grown up, there does seem to much less spillage and breakage - but accidents can always happen. We have graduated from sippy cups to wine glasses!

Of course on Thanksgiving Day, turkeys rule. So I always have a turkey vinyl table cloth for the kids' table. Usually I'll put one on the kitchen table as well. Between my sisters, sisters-in-law, mother, and aunts, there's a lot of cooks in my relatively small kitchen. So things get spilled and dropped as we feverishly work to produce all of our signature dishes, keep them warm, heat them up and fit them all on the table.

There aren't enough hours in the day sometimes, so I admit it that I shop ebay for my vinyl tablecloths. There are hundreds to choose from. Often more than one seller will have the same item that I'm interested in. So I can watch and see how popular a particular vinyl tablecloth is. Then I plot my strategy to save a few bucks. It doesn't seem like a lot, but after Thanksgiving comes Christmas and New Years, then St. Patrick's Day and well who doesn't have the gang over for Easter. Then it's summer. So you can see if you change out your vinyl tablecloths for the season or holidays or events - the cost can start to add up. If you buy more than one from the same seller, they will often combine shipping and handling costs.
