Learn the Latin Dance of Bolero. This is the modern "Ballroom" version seen in dance studios, competitions and occasionally in nightclubs. Previous dance experience is helpful but not required. We will start with the Basic step and give key pointers for Timing, Lead / Follow and Styling. Links will be provided for supplementary products.

Bolero, Lesson 1, Basic Step
The Bolero is a mix of Waltz (Rise and Fall), Ballroom Tango (Contra-body twist), and Rumba (Latin Motion).
Not Long ago many studios reserved Bolero for Silver level students. With today's society wired for quick learning, the patient and devoted student could even begin dancing from Online Videos.
Note: The couple is demonstrating in a close body hold. It is recommended for beginners to open the dance hold, perhaps holding hands or elbows, in order to separate their body weight and balance from one another. The term for this is "practice hold".

Bolero, Lesson 2, Underarm Pass
Notice the open break prior to the Underarm Pass. This creates space and can be a time to add arm styling to your dancing.
Note: Leaders open your right side to allow the Follower to move directly at you without collision. Keep close together for balance.
Bolero, Left Side Pass

Bolero, Lesson 3, Left Side Pass
Similar to the Underarm Pass, in this case the Follower passes on the Leader's Left Side. Notice that this does not involve going under the arm
Note: If you dance West Coast Swing, these movements may seem a bit familier. Use Contra Body while maintaining the Bolero Rise and Fall, the Pass should have all the feelings of the Basic step.
