Canadian Patriotic Party

Canadian party supplies often use the color red, or the red maple leaf, perhaps the most well known symbol of Canada.  The essential items are paper or plastic plates and cups, and paper napkins.  Nice maple leaf table cloths can add much, but a red and white one will do if you cannot find a nice maple leaf design.

Party decorations can be as few or as many as you like.  Nice hanging pennants add a party atmosphere.  But so can other decorations.  Perhaps a flag bouquet of many small flags would make a patriotic centerpiece for a table.  Yes, doing a little craft work yourself can give it a personal touch, and the centerpiece can be the size that works on your table.

Fortunately, cupcake papers are available with the maple leaf motif.  And small flag picks for cupcake toppings are inexpensive and easily found.  In fact, the flag picks can serve a double duty of also being scattered about as decorations.

Cookies can be made patriotic using a maple leaf cookie cutter.  Yes, this means you will be baking cookies, since store bought cookies cannot be reshaped, but the aroma of freshly baked cookies can also be a party plus.  The cookies, depending on what kind they are, can be given a red color by inclusion of red food coloring, sprinkling with red colored granulated sugar, or using red sprinkles.  I am certain you can think of other ways to have a red cookie, but imagine the impact of, say using a red sugar cookie, a plate of maple leaf cookies placed out for your guests.
