Choose Mom's Favorite Dishes to Make Her Day Special

Corelle is one of the most popular dinnerware lines ever made. After more than 40 years, Corning still brings out new patterns every year. Many of the older patterns are still in demand, and you can find them via yard sales, thrift stores, and online shopping venues. Some of the most desired patterns have been reissued.

More plates or bowls in Mom’s favorite pattern makes a great Mother’s Day gift. You can also find accessories made to match. Which items varies, depending on the pattern, but look for creamers, sugars, salt and pepper sets in china made by Jay Imports.

For newer patterns, check your favorite retailers and online vendors that sell Corelle. I was surprised to see that Walmart has some different patterns than other stores.

If your Mom likes tea parties, then you’ve probably seen the two-tier and three-tier china serving stands used for the pastries and petite sandwiches the ladies enjoy at their gathering.

There are lots of these available, in china, glass and metal, to complement your Mom’s existing party china. Put a bow or some ribbons on top, fill it with some special cupcakes, cookies, scones, petit fours…you gt the idea.

There are dinnerware makers which have made certain patterns for decades. If one of those patterns is hers, then you are probably familiar with the dishes already, because you’ve enjoyed meals using them at her house for years.

Some of these patterns are still made (such as Yorktowne by Pfaltzgraff, since 1967, or Old Country Roses by Royal Albert, since 1962). Others have been discontinued for a long time, but pieces are available in secondary shopping venues.

Adding to her vintage dinnerware set could be a multi-year project. In addition to Mother’s Day this year, there are birthdays, Christmas and other holidays to consider. If she really loves to use her dishes, more of her favorite china can be the perfect gift.
