Christmas Decorative Pieces in the Kitchen

by blackspanielgallery

Christmas decorative pieces in the kitchen can add much to the overall decorative scheme.

Christmas decorative pieces can be added to the kitchen, a room often neglected when decorating.

Select beautiful coasters that can be used as trivets as well with Christmas images on them. These can be of glass, stone, wood, or many other materials. They are to protect furniture, but they can also serve as decorations.

Another kitchen object that can be used as a decoration is the cutting board. The cutting board is functional. The function is to protect surfaces from damage when something is cut. It should have an impervious surface so it can be cleaned of small food particles and liquids. This allows cleaning to be done adequately. In addition to the functionality of a cutting board is the possibility of choosing a decorative piece.

It may also possible to match the images on the coasters and the cutting board.

Christmas Coasters and Trivets

Versatility Is Important

Small tile pieces with Christmas images are available in many materials.  I like the glass squares.  The squares of the glass pieces are 4.2 inches by 4.2 inches, and they have a 0.375-inch thickness.  They have rubber on the bottom to prevent scratching.  The glass ones are dishwasher safe.

When used as coasters these lovely pieces can handle either hot or cold drinks.  As a trivet these pieces can be a decorative way of protecting a surface from heat.  They can be used with casseroles, gravy boats, coffee or tea pots, or even pots of food.

Another use is as a protection against scratching by small decorations.  They work well to support small Christmas trees, Santas, and more.

Let the needed, useful pieces serve as part of the decorative scheme.

Cutting Boards

A cutting board should have a nonporous surface.  If the surface is porous liquids will be difficult to clean away.  Glass is an excellent material for cutting boards.

A glass cutting board with a Christmas image can add to the decorations.

Cutting boards come is different sizes, and in different shapes.  The most common shape is rectangular.  Other shapes include circular and paddle.

Cutting boards are ideal for carving.  They can hold a roast or turkey for carving for a meal.

Another purpose, especially for decorative cutting boards, is being used as serving trays.  Imagine cookies piled high on a Christmas themed cutting board and set out.

Paddle shaped cutting boards are small compared to most other cutting boards.  They serve well to hold cheese, especially cheese that requires cutting when one takes some for eating.

I do not believe one can decorate too much for Christmas.

I loved the designs on Christmas bells paper coaster and the blue Snowflake cutting board. Good idea to replace not only the cutlery but cutting boards in kitchen too. The atmosphere is more Christmasy and the ambiance just right.

I had seen glass cutting boards in the past on Zazzle, and they had sold out, so I did not design any at the time. Since they are available I designed a few, and found the glass line extends to coasters/trivets. The sell them for both uses. The idea of using cutting boards as trays is my adaption of a product to a new use.

blackspanielgallery, Thank you for the practicalities and products.
The paddle boards with their poinsettia and snowflake designs are particularly winsome for Christmas through Epiphany get-togethers.
Thank you for the presentations on glass coasters, cutting boards and trays. Are they common or new styles in Louisiana? I don't recall ever having or seeing them anywhere I've been. But they've inched into my shopping list because they'd add such light and photogenic-ness to table settings.

Zazzle has so many items, much more than when I started, it is easy to find something to add.
