Christmas Train Sets

by jptanabe

A Christmas Train is so much fun! You can enjoy a huge train set up at a store, or buy one to run under your own tree.

I'm not quite sure where the idea came from that Santa drives a train full of Christmas gifts - I always thought he flew around on a sleigh pulled by reindeer! Regardless though, the idea of a Christmas train is just delightful.

Our local hardware and lumber store sets up this amazing train set every year in their store. It's just wonderful to watch, and to watch the kids (and adults I have to admit!) enjoying it so much. My family makes a point of going to that store every December whether we need to buy anything there or not, just to see the train. And if it's not running, we wait around till it starts up. Now that's a good sales technique they've got going! But you can also have your own Christmas train set. Now that would be lovely! Here are some great ideas.

Christmas Train Sets are Mesmerizing!

Christmas train sets are just so magical!

I love this photo with the boy looking so intently at the train set. Can't you just imagine this little guy's excitement as he waits for the train to come into view? And I'm sure he could stand there for hours if his parents let him - even if it's the same train arriving each time it's still wonderful.

And there are adorable miniature Christmas trees dotted around the landscape!

Christmas Train Set at Williams Lumber

For the past 20 years our local Williams Lumber store has set up the most amazing Christmas display in their store. It takes them a whole month to set up and is well worth the wait! They have decorated trees, stuffed animals like penguins, deer, bears, and puppies, Santa of course, and model trains running through the wonderland.

Here  are a couple of videos of the Christmas train set that we love to watch every year at Williams Lumber. It is featured in one of their advertisements, because I guess I'm not the only one who goes there every December just to see the train. It's a family business so the people are kind of low key local types, but the train set looks great!

Musical Santa Express

Now this train doesn't actually go anywhere, although the wheels turn as the train plays Christmas songs.

I love it because it just looks so festive and jolly, all those colorful presents, and the elves move as they work away at the presents and happy Santa waves!
