Coleman Camp Stove Review

by Shaz

A Colman propane camp stove is probably the most essential camping accessory. A hot meal at the end of a day in the great outdoors is something to really look forward to.

Unless you are one of the rare Bear Grills type campers, you will no doubt appreciate one or two home comforts, like a Coleman camp stove especially when it comes to cooking!

An open fire is great, but not always practical and often illegal if there is a high fire risk involved during the summer months.

A Colman propane camp stove is definitely the answer. They are so much more efficient than other stoves on the market, which will often need to be re-ignited if there is the slightest wind blowing. The fold up wind sheilds take care of that problem easily and efficiently.

Propane Camping Stove Review

There are several brands of portable propane camp stoves on the market but I will review just 1 because I have used Coleman products for the past 33 years, and have never had a problem with any of them. For that reason and because I've been reading other customer reviews lately, I am convinced that the 'PerfectFlow' propane camp stove is the best value for money.

I am very impressed with the design of this stove. As you will see from the video and photos it is very easy to start, easy to use, and cooks like a dream.

I have tried cooking with butane powered portable stoves before but even light wind conditions can reduce the heat distribution dramatically. I got sick of waiting an hour for the water to boil, so I will only recommend Propane camping stoves for this reason.

The camp stove pictured above and below is the top of the line model, but I have located a more affordable 2 Burner propane camping stove by Coleman.

How To Start Your Propane Camp Stove

Push Button Ignition System

Firing up this stove for a session of cooking couldn’t really be any easier. This model is fitted with an ‘Instastart’ ignition system which just means you hit the button and it lights up. The burners both burn evenly and consistently.

Even in very windy conditions this stove will start first time and continue to provide a constant cooking source. See video of windy conditions below.

Cleaning Your Propane Camp Stove

There is a handy drip tray underneath the cooking surface, which is really easy to keep clean. Just to be on the safe side, I always keep an eye on the drip tray and clean it after cooking steaks, hamburgers etc so that it doesn’t overflow.

I keep a supply of paper towels handy just to give a wipe over to remove any ‘spitting’ from cooking meat. That’s really all the cleaning that is necessary for your camp stove, but I always give the stove another good clean once I get back home to keep it in top condition.  Other than that, there is nothing to do.  It is a very user friendly and reliable stove.

I would encourage you to click on the Amazon link above and read the customer reviews there.
