Collecting Blue Teapots

by fitzcharming

I love blue teapots. I don't make tea in them, I just display them in my kitchen. I like the way they look lined up above my cabinets and in my glass door cupboards.

They aren't antique or vintage teapots, just porcelain and ceramic pots that I've spotted in stores around town, and some that were gifts. They are also very easy to find for sale online, and I've showcased some of my favorites for sale at Amazon and eBay on this site. My favorites are the little ones that are made by Spode. They are a bit harder to find but whenever I run across one I feel like I've found a new treasure for my collection.

Starting A Tea Pot Collection

Whether you collect for display or for brewing delicious tea, teapots are fun collectibles.  I narrowed my search to blue only choices, but you can find pieces in many colors.  I recommend sticking to one color, theme, style, or era because there are so many tea pots available it can be overwhelming.

Many of my pieces were bought in stores like TJ Maxx or Home Goods, but you can find a greater selection online.  When you buy in a retail store your chance of finding exactly the right tea pot depends on being there at the right time.  I like to shop online because the selection is endless.  And the store doesn't have to be "open".

Hand Painted Polish Pottery Teapot - Blue Spring Daisy

Polish Pottery Teapot

Polish Pottery is one of my favorite types of kitchen pottery. I have a few pieces that I display and use all the time. These are made in Boleslawiec, Poland. The brilliant blue and colored patterns are eye catching and functional. And there are so many unique styles and pieces that aren't typically included in traditional dinnerware sets.

This Polish Pottery 14 oz Blue Spring Daisy Teapot Cobalt  is hand painted and hand thrown by Ceramika Artystyczna. It is dishwasher and microwave safe and is extremely durable.

Royal Copenhagen Blue Fluted Half LaceTeapot

Royal Copenhagen Blue Teapot

The Blue Fluted pattern is part of Denmark's cultural heritage and is synonymous with Danish porcelain. Royal Copenhagen's Blue Fluted was the company's first porcelain dinner service, introduced in 1775 and this Blue Fluted Half Lace teapot is part of the most exclusive design. It is virtually indistinguishable from the original fluted plates of more than 200 years ago.

This teapot is hand painted with over 1,197 brush strokes, most of which are small dots. The large 34 ounce size makes it great for entertaining and it is dishwasher and microwave safe (although at the price I think I would hand wash). Truly beautiful as a part of a tea service or home decor.

Royal Copenhagen makes a full line of Blue Fluted dinnerware and serve ware to go along with your beautiful collection.

Thanks Dustytoes, I love the Polish pottery too. I have several serving pieces with Christmas-ish designs that I use during the holidays. It's not very expensive either so that makes it even better.
