Daytona Bike Week 2013

by Ketchingup

At Daytona Bike Week you can see almost every motorcycle made. This photo essay will show you some of the bikes.

Writing an essay about Daytona Bike Week is a near impossibility.

I mean what can you write about the magnificent motorcycles that are on parade.

This annual gathering of motorcycles and enthusiasts is a remarkable event to see and you don't need a motorcycle to appreciate the beauty of some of these machines.

The event is literally parade after parade of fabulous machines cruising up and down main street in Daytona Beach, Florida.

So if you wanna see some great looking bikes c'mon along and take a look.

Quite a variety of motorcycles

This year the Dayton Beach Bike Week was scheduled for March 8-17, 2013. For Daytona Beach this week is a major event as it brings in thousands of people from all over the country to enjoy the warm weather and camaraderie of other motorcycle enthusiasts.

Many bikes have paint jobs as a tribute to something.  In the pictures that follow you'll find a couple that are tribute bikes.

A motorcycle paint job as a tribute to the 9/11 attack in New York.

Some are from another time and place as is the German motorcycle and side car.

Other bikes just want to make a statement.  The trike below says, "United States Marine Corps Semper Fi 'Til I Die"

I Love a Parade

The parade of motorcycles is non-stop.

Main Street in Daytona is the hot bed of activity during the week and one of the primary activities is cruising down the street on your bike, trike or whatever you're rolling on. The diversity of machines that you see is a fantastic explosion of color and sound.

Besides the bike parades  there area number of entertainment establishments along main street and the side streets that provide a variety of bands and music.  There is even music in the streets as you walk along the sidewalks.

Here's a short video to give you a taste of the constant parades.

More Awesome Motorcycles

If you wanted to see every kind, type, and brand of motorcycle made, bike week offers that opportunity.

It's worth noting that many of the motorcycles you see were not driven to Daytona. Many of them because of the distance, or value were transported to Daytona in enclosed trailers. Keep in mind that many people are travel to Daytona from areas that still have snow cover at this time of year.

Great pictures. No I don't ride but I live close by and get to see lots of motorcycles during bike week. I remember when I was much younger it wasn't considered a safe event. Warlocks, Hells Angels and the like. I went once during that era and it didn't seem so bad. I might have not been acutely aware of my surroundings at that moment though - it was the seventies, 'nuff said.
