Brewing our first batch of beer, just like baking a cake for the first time, can be a bit nerve racking. Let’s face it no one wants to mess something up, use too much of this, not enough of that, or forget something entirely. So what exactly do we do, to ensure the cake is a success?

Go to the bakery and buy our special someone a birthday cake, I think not.

We either breakout the ole cook book, grandma’s secret cake recipe, or use a prepackaged cake mix, right.

Brewing our first, or hundredth, batch of homebrew is the same when using malt extracts and all-grain brewing kits

The All-grain Beer Brewing kit has listed among its components a packet of sanitizer.

But there's nothing listed for the Easy to Use Malt Extract Beer Brewing Kit. Its last paragraph mentions hand-washing without abrasives or scouring pads.

Would cleaning require cool, lukewarm, warm water and some kind of mild dishwashing detergent?
