Easter Dresses and Hats

Spring means Easter dresses and Easter hats to me. It is a time for renewal. As the flowers start to bud and the sun shines down we are ready to celebrate Easter. There is nothing sweeter than a little girl in her dress and hat or bonnet on Easter Sunday. My grandmother would take me to the local department store every year around Easter and buy a new Easter dress for me with a matching hat. I was always so excited to get these new clothes since it was not often that I did. We got new clothes at the beginning of the school year and at Easter. That was it. She would always get me the most beautiful dress and hat. I was always so proud on Easter Sunday as I walked into church with her. I truly felt like a princess. 

My grandmother never got herself a dress but she did always get a Easter hat to wear. It seems as though Easter hats for women have gone by the wayside. The fashion trends have become so casual that you do not see as many mothers and grandmothers wearing their Easter hats in church anymore. However, the little girls usually do have theirs on. Pink, white, and lavender are all precious colors for Easter hats or bonnets. They are so adorable dressed this way.

I continue the tradition of purchasing my daughters new Easter dresses and hats every year. Unfortunately my older daughter has gotten to where I can not tell her what she is going to wear anymore. She has to have a say so in what she is going to wear. It is never what I would have picked but most of the time it is still a beautiful Easter dress. My four year daughter is still at the age where I can pick her clothes for her and she is happy. They both are beautiful little princesses on Easter Sunday every year.

Easter is a time of family gathering and celebration. There are very few times that we can get our children dressed up like this.
