One more point, not sure if anybody mentioned it already:

Identify a problem > Promote the solution.

Like this one: http://wizzley.com/thermal-underwear-women-always-cold/

Problem: being always cold.

Solution: thermal underwear.

And the great thing is that in the problem section you can tell all the stories you want ;-) SY

No, I think you are OK as this article is for those that are checking things out without knowing exactly what they want.

I did giggle at this line "If you want your Gay Pride to shine as bright as your baubles" - classic!

Great discussion. I think I'm learning something. Thanks Jo for starting it. I always wondered how people wrote all those articles on products. I'm ready to try my hand at it.

Takes a bow at my classic line. :D

I've got a mental image here of Jimmie going, "Why is everyone suddenly looking at my thermal underwear...?"  *waves to Jimmie, if she comes to see*

Lana, I'm with you here.  I'm very grateful to everyone for sharing their expertise.  Last night was the first time I had fun attempting a Wizzle like this.  Good luck with yours too. :)

PS  I'm on a roll now.  Three on the same broad subject.  Phew!  Going back to my comfort zone forthwith!

But that was fun to attempt. :D

So Jo, just to prove everyone's point to some degree... we seem to all be in agreement that June is about where people start thinking about shopping for xmas gifts... this seems very apparent in practice in my stats page. I was doing about 30-50 hits a day in traffic up to about June and as you can see from the image below, that traffic was relatively (biorythmically none the less/up and down but steady at some middle point the chart points out) steady, then around May/June things started picking up substantially- this started BEFORE the WZ 2.0 update, but continues through it to today. My traffic hits are now centering at 100-160 visits a day. This is all google traffic primarily....

That's almost a 50% increase in traffic hits tapering up from mid June to now... Had I built a bunch of xmas articles when I started (I should have) I'd be basking in sales right now but am not really (because my product pages are JUST starting to come out :(

Christmas is upon us let the xmas builds get underway!  (I think june is cutting it close because you want to have your articles for xmas sales in by March so BY June they are taking full advantage of all that potential traffic... June is a bit, as one person put it by stating you should be worrying about Valentines day in June, cutting it close.... 3-6 months ahead of the holiday our work happens- just like a television series is built the whole next season while your watching the current one :)... my biggest spike (160 in a day) came the very day the site update went live... (cut off by the word "rush" in xmas rush label)

Thought I'd share :)

My Chart from today (August 1,2012 5:12pm pacific standard time): (if you don't see an image give it a sec to load)

That is very distinct and very telling.  I've got several articles doing the same thing, which I thought was the indication that they'd finally matured in the SERPs.  Sam said before that it takes about 3 months for the search engines to decide where to put you.

I've also been in my module clicks tab.   Grand unveiling here:  This is the article for which I currently have the most interest on Amazon.  Is that surprising you veterans as much as it is me?

I'm not saying that it's there in isolation.  Just that it's generating the most click through readers.

Jerrico - how can you call this Christmas Rush Traffic if you don't have any Christmas articles? Am I missing something?

Don't go overboard with your long-range planning, guys. Halloween and Thanksgiving are HUUUGE opportunities!

Chef chef chef, this wasn't about MY Christmas traffic but about how traffic surges around June FOR Christmas, sure I don't have any Christmas articles thus no proof of that being the traffic source, but what I wanted to show is that traffic's biorhythm surges around June and if anything I'm missing out on traffic I could have banked on/monetized...
