I know that we have nothing at Wizzley for Etsy, but I see they allow affiliate sign ups and I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with that?  It looks a bit complicated.

I just recently signed up for the Etsy affiliate program, but haven't made a sale yet.

Did you have to sign up for a certain way to make links?  It looked like we had to sign up through another place with a code of some kind.

I guess I am wondering if it was easy to figure out.

Hi dustytoes - I had to join AffiliateWindow first, but I did that through the affiliate information page on Etsy:

https://www.etsy.com/affiliates

Click the "Join Today" link, and it will take you to the AffiliateWindow / Etsy page.

On the left, choose the button "Signup and join program" and it will walk you through the necessary steps to join AffiliateWindow and then add Etsy.

I think I was accepted to AffiliateWindow within a day or two, and approved for Etsy a couple days later (although I don't really remember the timeframe exactly!).

I'm used to working with CJ Affiliate (formerly Commission Junction), which I think has better features.  Maybe I just have to work more with AffiliateWindow / Etsy for longer and then it may feel easier too. So far I've just used text links that point to the product pages.

I haven't used the links on Wizzley, but on my own site, and I haven't really had much time yet to play with it recently!

Thanks so much for that detailed explanation!

Hmmmm... it asks for a company name and won't let me continue without one.

I know someone who is having some success with Etsy. I can ask her. What do you need to know? Just how she signed up and what company name she used?

kajohu's directions are pretty straightforward, but the company name has me stumped since I personally don't really have a company.  If it's just a matter of putting in a name, such as my website, then I could do that.

Let me ask her and she what she did.

I'm just waiting for her reply. She's usually very quick to respond.

Hi again, this woman has a business name, so she was able to use it when signing up for Etsy. You can always check to see if you can use Etsy through Viglink. I think this is one of the programs you'd need additional approval for. Prosperent is another aggregator, and I think you can use Etsy through them as well.

I didn't think that they accept US affiliates. Perhaps they have changed their minds. It has been an on again - off again affiliate program. I am very frustrated with them. I made a site to promote them and then they said they were closing their US program. I haven't checked recently so maybe they are back.

Okay so I just went to Viglink. It said to request approval, so I did. I'll let you know if I hear back. Commission is 4 percent.

Hi Digby, I think there is now a way to become an Etsy affiliate if you're in the US, through Affiliate Window. https://darwin.affiliatewindow.com/merchant-profile/6220

But it sounds as if you've had a frustrating experience. It's nice to have different income streams. Good thing there are countless affiliate programs out there.

That's for sure. I'll be interested in seeing whether my application for putting etsy on Wizzles is accepted.

I don't see why they wouldn't.

I wasn't thinking about using Etsy on Wizzley, but that would be nice too - through Viglink.

The Affiliate Window site, where you sign up, has the US listed in the dropdown, so I would assume US affiliates are accepted.

Digby, I look forward to what you hear.

I missed a lot today :-)    That's what happens when I don't request to be notified of new posts....

Dustytoes, for a company name, I just put down one of my websites.  Or maybe you could make up a name (I don't think they check to see if there's a real company of that name).

The Etsy affiliate program for the U.S. is fairly new.  Or new again.   I know there wasn't one for awhile.

The commission is only 4% for Etsy U.S. but still there are so many nice items to choose from that I haven't seen other places.

I was thinking I would just use my Sandpiper Wedding website name as the company name, and after reading your comment, I will do that.

Yes, 4% is better than nothing, and I already promote Etsy shops, so why not get something for it!
