Have only just realised the significance - two family birthdays on the day the world was meant to end. We were too busy socialising to realise and yes, we felt fine

Great find Christene

It's certainly not a job I would relish. Prefer sitting on the sidelines for now. Squidu is not what it used to be Frown but I applaud the stalwarts who are keeping things 'normal' at the moment.

I would have consider the job if the job was exclusively about zapping chinese and peruvian spammers. But that's was not the case so I did not apply.

I submitted my name for consideration because I want to see SquidU return to being about helping people. Having been co-moderator on other forums I believe that one can balance the time needed based around offline and online business activity.

However, I do believe there is a massive responsibility on the part of the members/users of the forum to recognise that it is a place to help others with lenscrafting and that there are other places to take the gripes and complaints about Squidoo HQ .  If they cannot or will not accept that then I suspect the future of the forum is shortlived.

Like you I am hoping that SquidU will become the place it used to be and moderation by eight people will make it easier to jump on stuff before it gets out of hand.

I'm full of admiration for people who want to give their time to this. I've found very little time even to visit the forum lately, but maybe that's because I just got fed up with all the wrangling, and the novelty I felt when I started 2 years ago had worn off.

I thought the list of names had a lot of really upstanding dedicated people in it.

I hope it works well.

I am ending my active involvement with Squidoo by the end of this month. My readership tanked with the recent changes and it is simply not worth continuing to be active there. Now, I want to apply what I learned NOT to do to articles written here, on Hubpages, and Knol...

Speaking of ending things. Did Jaguar Julie leave? I saw what looked like a goodbye note on her profile...

She's still updating lenses.

I think that was just a note of goodbye to fanclubs.

I saw the updated lenses but I sent her a note asking and she has not responded.

Well, the censorship has already started on Squidu, so be even more careful what and how you write there. A thread I wrote asking if everyone has slacked off visiting each other is gone.

She's still visiting lenses. The last email I received from her was May 15th. She's well.......but very busy juggling the many changes in her life.

I see a post by Rick Phillips has been deleted.

I have seen another thread disappear quietly, that I am just so glad to see the back of because the OP really was taking the mickey - so I guess while the clean up continues, there will be stuff where we are going to wonder "why" and others we will think "woot" Laughing

At the risk of making myself a little unpopular Laughing

If people have a problem with what is happening on SquidU/Squidoo then out of respect for the management  of Wizzley can I respectfully suggest that those issues are taken up with the appropriate people at Squidoo.

As a member of the SquidU Council elected by by the members these sort of comments make me feel as if I should not be here or that I should start avoiding the Wizzley forum

I agree with you, Paul.

We're all friends and seasoned veterans of this whole online publishing thing, and a public "complaint-fest" about our fellow platformers is unbecoming to every Wizzler worth hizz or her zzalt.

Let's catch the WizzBuzz instead!     ( <--- this guy nerves me, sometimes...)

Achim "Chef Keem" Thiemermann is the co-founder of a pretty cool new platform called...um...er...oh, yeah - Wizzley.com.

I agree with Paul and Achim on this issue.  I think many of us can acknowledge that we have learnt a lot from other platforms such as Squidoo, RedGage and Hub Pages. I think that out of respect we should leave their internal affairs to their own forums.  So our aim is not to denigrate these sites but build on their accomplishments and acknowledge their contributions.

I empathise entirely with Paul's uncomfortable position if this kind of discussion continues.

I think too we need to acknowledge that many of these other sites are at a very different stage of development than Wizzley.  They are mature sites with the issues and problems that come with extraordinary growth and popularity.  Wizzley is very much in the embryonic stage.

We have the great opportunity to collectively shape the culture of Wizzley if we maintain our focus and make this the best site possible for all members.  Already, we are seeing an incredible sense of belonging, mutual respect and support and an environment of creativity.  As developers we are especially grateful to our authors/contributors for making Wizzley what it is in its infancy - a  fun and friendly site with quality articles.
