Message From VigLink Concerning?

Guest

Hey Everyone,

I hope you don't mind my starting a new thread, but thought it deserved its own place. As I stated in the other Viglink thread, my Ebay and Walmart links weren't showing up as able to be monetized. Now keep in mind that I did Viglink a month ago, all in one day. Went retroactively and placed it on all pages where appropriate.

I contacted Viglink and just received the following reply this morning:

Hi,

Thank you for your email. Wal-Mart and eBay are merchants that you need to receive approval for. Wizzley.com was recently given eBay access, and I show an affiliated link on your publisher dashboard to eBay this week from this page: (link removed by me). Previous weeks do not show eBay links as affiliated because Wizzley.com had not yet been approved for eBay affiliation.

Wal-Mart also requires approval, and I have submitted your site to our affiliate team for approval. I'll let you know when I have a response for you.

Thanks!

Best,

Brian

So my question is, I thought everything was a done deal and I didn't need to do anything else? I was one of the last Wizzlers to use Viglink (was waiting to see if it was a good thing according to most writers here before putting it on my pages). I don't remember hearing anything about ebay and Walmart not being approved a month ago when I did this?

Most of my Viglinks ARE Ebay and Walmart!!!! So did I just waste a whole buncha time? And, because this isn't my personal Viglink account (it is thru Wizzley) then am I supposed to do anything? When will we know these 2 are ok with Viglink and will it hit my links retroactively at that time (ebay modules, for example) or do I have to go back in and do something?

Thanks...

Update:

Another email states Walmart and Ebay links are NOW working (implying no credit for them up to this point).

I think my concern is, because ebay modules are "different" and they are modules, not straight links, can we be certain all of those modules are active and we are getting credit where it is due?

Thanks

Sick of me yet? :)

So checked Viglink dashboard after all of this, and NOW everything that should be monetized is showing that it is (vitacost, ebay, walmart, art.com) - but data for weeks up until this point in time are not, so links won't go back retroactively as far as giving credit is concerned.

I did send one more email to Viglink to confirm that everything should work retroactively. And like my last question, I want to know how I can be sure all ebay modules are affiliated and working ok..is there a way to do that?

Thanks

I'm not the expert on these things, Robin, but I wanted to acknowledge your post and ask you for a bit of patience.  Smile

We'll discuss your questions in our conference, later this morning.

Thanks for acknowledging my post!

Thanks for the post Robin. I haven't been earning anything from Viglink, but I discovered from one of chefs articles that I didn't quite know how to use it.

We're discussing this right now, and we will contact VL right after our conference.

Anne, our resident VL expert, will post a clarification as soon as possible.

Thanks again...

If you need to know this, Viglink became effective for me (my first time using it) on June 6th. Other links were working correctly, so I believe I am using it right/set it up correctly.

There could be other affiliates that I don't use having this same problem, but for me it appears Walmart and Ebay were the only 2 not giving me credit.

If that helps...

hmmm (posting to get notifications)... hey how about a way to check a box to stay in the loop as opposed to having to post then check "email notifications of new posts" to be put on the notifications list? i.e.a check box for each forum post allowing us to join the conversation without posting? (if it's complicated to do nevermind just a suggestion)...

We're definitely on it, guys. We sent them a long mail yesterday. Due to the weekend, we may not hear back from them before Monday

I am still awaiting a response as to why my Sharesale links are affiliated by VigLink.

Janet - you're waiting for a response from VL, right?

As I said, we wrote a comprehensive email to VL, and we hope to get some clarifications by tomorrow. The support response to Robin (above) is pretty much unacceptable. But it's hard for us to comment on anything until we had a chance to discuss these things with our VL contact.

I got my first viglink click (no buy) today and notice what everyone's talking about with eBay clicks not showing valid monetization... I'm just glad I got a click- now I know the whole monetize dash is set up and working :)

Yes, I am waiting to hear back about sharesale.  My shareasale links are showing they are being affiliated by VigLink.

My ebay links appear to be working correctly, though.

So if I understand this topic correctly, my ebay capsules might not be working because I've never applied to ebay through Viglinks? I'll just sit tight and watch this play out. I keep getting more and more confused about Viglinks, I must admit.

I believe what's happening is that eBay was already supposed to be approved and thus all we should have had to do was sign up for viglink with wizzley as the site we enter when signing up, and nothing else was required of us other than adding links/activating viglink for links and ebay Modules within the wizzley site/editor.

Somewhere in there eBay seems to have fallen off "approval" according to the email she got, but what I'm seeing is sporadic validity (some it's working for others it's not although all are on the same site that was supposed to already be approved).

My account is showing eBay as not being counted/invalid as well as many others (other authors here having the same issue), while some report theirs is working fine (or maybe some and not other times)....

Viglink is supposed to be simple, it's a "hub" or collection, of affiliates available in a pool activated by our own articles being scanned (if you enable them to do so with that check mark on your wizzles) and if

1. a domain that is a part of the viglink network i.e. www.walmart.com or ebay.com, are found in your article that link is then "affiliated" or converted to an affiliate link that is managed by viglink-

or

2. a term in your article i.e. ebay is a partner they convert it into a hyperlink i.e. insert a link into that term so if someone clicks it you get paid (if it's paid by the click or paid if it's a purchase only payout if they buy something)

What is going wrong is they are not processing eBay- a valid partner that wizzley as a site whole should by proxy of being an author here under the wizzley umbrella (approval being only needed for wizzley and thus it's partners (us writers or authors) as an approved link when they should be. So Chef and team wrote a long email to the viglink admin stating roughly:

"what the hell man, why aren't our writers eBay links being credited/valid links thus paying out when clicks/purchases happen through them?"

and they are awaiting a reply. Meanwhile there are unpaid (which should have been paid as wizzley by their (viglink via the email posted in this thread) own admission was already approved for eBay affiliate programs) links-- authors not getting their due payday for the clicks they sent in by proxy of creating a wizzle and adding links/modules...

That's what I gather in a nutshell from viglink- If I'm incorrect, please correct me (chef or anyone else who knows better)...

Jerrico

Our Ebay and Walmart links should be affiliated without any approval process from our side. After all, that's what VL is for. So we're upset over the support answer to Robin. It doesn't make any sense.

We'll let you know what VL said as soon as we get an answer, hopefully today.
