Viglink & Shareasale Issues Again

If you use Shareasale, please check your links and your Viglink dashboard to make sure everything's working correctly.   I have just sent them an email as it's showing all of my clicks as being non-monetized and yet when I click on them they appear to be going through Viglink instead of through my own links.

This is the second time (to my knowledge) that there has been problems with these links being over-ridden by Viglinks, but saying non-monetized is (imo) even worse as it means no income whatsoever!

I'll let you know when they get back to me, but I'm thinking one more slip up and I might just switch the products over to Amazon ones instead.

All links initially go through VigLink. If they find one that they can affiliate for you then they will attach your VigLink referrer to it before passing it on.

If they see that the link is already affiliated by you, or if there is no affiliate program available, they will just send the link on its merry way.

In either case, you will see all the outgoing links, and what happened to them, in your VigLink dashboard.

If you *think* there might be a problem, or if you do not understand something, it is always a good idea to send them a support request first.

I have sent them a request Anne, but some of my links go straight to Shareasale and some go via them so it's not consistent, I wasn't aware that they should all re-direct so that's good to know, but it's not what I'm seeing.

I've started to see a number of clicks on some of my Shareasale links showing on their dashboard and yet they're now saying non-monetized even though they should be (and were previously) saying already monetized .

When Janet mentioned her links were showing as being monetized by Viglink (on the dashboard) I had just got back from being overseas and I noticed mine were also reading the same.   I waited to see the response they sent her and once they'd rectified it I looked at my dashboard and they were again reading already monetized.

I'm waiting to hear from them, but I'm just suggesting that everyone keep an eye on their links as it seems as though something is going wrong somewhere.   I'm leaving the links as is at the moment and hoping things sort themselves out.

I love that we've got the opportunity to use Viglinks as I'm making money through the ebay module and even if it's a per click rate, the clicks add up nicely and so I'm not saying I'll be leaving Viglinks all together HOWEVER once they rectify this problem (which I'm hoping they will quickly) if there's anymore problems with Shareasale I will be switching back to using Amazon as the products I'm promoting are now available there as well.

I think we are more concerned with links that are being re-affiliated despite the fact that they should not be. "Link already affiliated" and "Link couldn't be monetized" just indicates that VigLink was not able to affiliate it, or that it was left untouched in the case of an existing affiliation. Perhaps they had to change the status message due to the nature of this particular network, but I don't think this means that this link was somehow "dis-affiliated", i.e. stripped of its existing affiliation.

Lou, as i posted in the other thread.  Shareasale told me this:

Previously, Shareasale was registered in our system as a merchant, meaning those links would either affiliate or show up as already-affiliated. We have removed this classification so that now, any links to Shareasale will show up as generic links that can't be affiliated. They won't be affected by the VigLink API, and you will maintain your original affiliation.

So, if your shareasale links are showing that they can't be monetized, that means they can't be monetized by VigLinks which is what we want.  Smile

Thanks Janet, I know I read that when you posted it, but as mine then changed to say already affiliated I didn't click that they could show up as being non-monetized.

They've obviously made some change in their reporting over the weekend.

Sorry if I've sounded grumpy I'm just getting over a head cold and I'm not really firing on all cylinders at the moment - I should lock myself away when I'm grumpy :D

I remember there being a check box in the viglink account for forcing or not forcing affiliated links to be reaffiliates- in other words there is a setting where you can tell them not to touch your affiliated links or you can set it to reaffiliate them all. It was a check box I believe.

as for eBay and their ever growing greed (now not paying people for sales they generate but only a click value of what 8 cents)- they are dead to me :)

I know this late in the thread this is a silly question but what the heck is sharesale? How can I check this out or use it (i.e. where do I find the products etc...)

and off topic a bit, how do you guys get a hyperlink into your forum footer? I tried and it stripped the html off but many of you have links...

Update - I've heard back from them and they have just updated the way they view the links which is why they're now saying non-monetized instead of already monetized.

All is well and I'm back to my usual happy self see -

Jerrico - Shareasale is an affiliate network which I know quite a few of us use.   As far as the forum signatures just go into Settings - Forum Signature and add using HTML.

I don't think we need another article about an affiliate company. It usually does not add anything unique to the web, and all you need to know is on their website anyway.

I wasn't asking someone to build one just asking if there was one already available :) I know what you need is on the site but articles generally contain more than the site in tips tricks, techniques etc...
