Amazon UK?

Are we able to feature products from Amazon UK at all? (I have some UK interest wizzles.)

I think it's probably the same issue as with that other place in terms of the modules only being able to display US products.  If we could have UK products I would certainly be very pleased - not sure whether we are allowed to use our own affiliate banners for Amazon UK given that we are not meant to use affiliate banners for programmes that are offered through Wizzley - bit of a grey area which hopefully Chef can clarify?

Exactly Paul. I'd be happy to use Wizzley modules if the ability to display UK products gets implemented, but I understand it may not be financially viable. 

Otherwise it would be nice to get the okay to use our own links.

The thing is, the majority of all visitors of Wizzley come from the US. In numbers: Only 5.9% of all visitors are from the UK. Thus, incorporated UK affiliate links would only work on 5.9% of all visitors. Whereas the US-part corresponds to more than 70% of all visitors. Do you know what I mean?

For that, using UK links is actually a big loss for both, authors and Wizzley. Also it's not only a small change in the back-end of the Amazon module, but really a lot of work. What's more: By giving a choice on which Amazon should be used, the navigation/settings will be even more complicated than it is already :-/

However, we certainly will find a solution, so you can use UK links as an option ...

Simon completely take your point and understand that as a percentage it would not make sense to allocate a disproportionate amount of resource to service them in terms of sales modules.

However 2 points to ponder:

1. Do UK visitors not arrive at a US Focused site because they know they cannot buy from there anyway?  Or do the UK searchers not have the Wizzley pages presented to them as options because the Search Engines don't see them as relevant?  So the number of UK visitors is proportionally lower because of that?

2. For me (based on visitor numbers to date) 955 people have not had the opportunity to buy - not lost sales but sales that could never have happend.

I am sure whatever solution you come up with will be great - and I would be happy with being able to use simple banners with something like "Shopping from the UK - click here"

And I understand the technical issues involved (I'm a lapsed techie.)

Our chandelier does swing a bit (we live in a very old house!) so it could be precarious LOL

I really like and approve Achim's decision

@pkmcr: The lower number of UK visitors only results from two facts:
a) There are far less web users from the UK than from the US.
b) Wizzley is mainly promoted in the US, therefore we also get more readers from there.

The search engines show the articles to US and UK users more or less alike. Readers will not be able to see on SERPs, where they can buy from products presented on those articles.

Simon I too heartily welcome Chef's agreement to my suggestion of using our own banners for UK visitors and it will be interesting to monitor how that plays out.

For general interest the Stats do make interesting reading when one looks at where internet users come from - and for a significantly smaller population our 82% population penetration versus 78% for the US makes reveals a very active internet population.

The US represents 11.6% of all internet users and I think we in the UK do rather well at 2.4% lagging slightly behind Germany at 3.1%

But the real opportunity is Wizzley China :-)  representing 23% of total Internet Usage and that on only a 36% ppopulation penetration

Yeah, China would be nice :-D !!
