How are amazon text links handled?

Reading this thread about Viglink & Zazzle got me thinking about Amazon.

I don't see any amazon clicks/sales in VigLink at all, so how are amazon text links outside of the module handled?

Amazon is handled fully by Wizzley *if* you have entered an own Amazon ID in your settings here. If you've not entered an ID, then we let it run via VigLink for you. This way everybody can decide on his/her own what's most efficient. I assume you use an Amazon ID, thus no clicks are registered on VigLink.

Thanks Simon, that is what I thought.  I just wanted to make sure I understood it correctly.

One more clarification please.  You are saying that direct amazon text link outside of the modules are being affiliated through Wizzley if I have my amazon ID in the setting?

Sorry to be a pain, I just have quite a few amazon text links.

Thanks again.

That's correct, Janet.

Reviving this thread as it seems to be somewhat relevant to my 'having a dumb moment' issue. I have an Amazon UK Affiliates account (makes sense, as I'm based in the UK and they pay directly into your bank account rather than having to wait for a suitable amount of $ and a cheque).

Am I right in thinking that I need to insert the text link using the HTML side of the module rather than the rich text side, much as I do with my blog? Just trying a bit of trial and error and realising that the links hold when I put them in the HTML side whereas I get a lovely red error box if I cut and paste them straight into the rich text editing page.

And, does it matter whether I have a UK or US Amazon affiliation? I think I've registered Wizzley with both, but as I've already sold things through my Amazon UK account but have yet to earn a cent of any color through the US Affiliates account, it seems to be more sensible to stay with the UK one for now.

If you're using VigLink for Amazon it doesn't matter if you have a direct affiliation with them or not.

As for inserting links, when using the rich text editor you need to use the little "chain" button on the right hand side. But first you'd type the word you want to hyperlink, then highlight it and click the button. A window pops up where you will enter the destination URL. Once you hit save, your chosen word (or phrase) should now be hyperlinked.

Thanks Anne.

I have both VigLink and Amazon Affiliates UK at the moment, mainly because I'm hoping VigLink will take up the slack that Amazon doesn't seem interested in handling (cents-a-mamie, much?) The Amazon Affiliates UK links don't seem to like being added via the chain button, preferring to hold station only when added via the html screen. Maybe this is just a thing with Affiliates UK, as I have found the same with my blog.

Or maybe that's a Chrome issue, who knows? My steam-driven, much rebuilt, second-hand brick of a laptop can be a touch picky about some things sometimes. But it's still working, so I'll carry on using it until it turns up its hard drive at me...
