I've tried to hang in there at Squidoo and even though they have locked my lenses willy nilly - some should go, it's true, but others I find no reason for it - I've stuck it out and even tried to fix up what I have there in hopes they will be happy and leave me alone.

I just had my 2nd to the top lens locked.  It's a seashell coloring pages lens with educational info and ranks at around 3,000 on the site.  I've had wonderful comments by people who have found it useful and it has plenty of original text.  I see that there are still many coloring pages on the site, so I don't know what their problem is.

I'm ranting... sorry, - I'm just so ticked off and I don't have time for this ...

but ...my question is, would a page like that be okay to move to Wizzley?  I've see other coloring type pages here, but I know they are frowned upon in general.  My pages are done by me, so they are unique.

I will be doing the same for everything I have there - moving it here.  I just don't understand the way they decide what stays and what goes and there is never a reason given.  At Wizzley I know I will not suddenly find that my hard work has disappeared.

Sending sympathy in your direction. Squidoo had at my 'Do Polar Bears Love Blue' lens as well. That's my best lens.

However, right now, I am tied up changing everything in the way I work, so I'm going to have to eat that and leave it for now.

My main editing project is hitting (has hit?) the buffers, my two bosses have left the firm and I'm in a battle to get the $$ the firm owes me before the site shuts up completely.

After I'm done with that battle, I'm going to be looking at removing my Squidoo content and repurposing it, which to be honest it probably needed anyway. Also thanks to my new writing project, I'm going to be able to look into pkmcr's suggestion of Zujava as this is allowing me to research a new topic which I have dabbled in before but not had the time to investigate thoroughly until now.

As my colleague said to me this afternoon 'One door closes, another one opens.' We should probably bear that in mind, given the fickle nature of the Google Gods at times.

Good luck and hope it all works out. looking forward to reading your new (to me) work when the ex-lenses hit their new home here.

Hi, Dustytoes, I never had much of a locking issue at Squidoo, but the sheer chaos and the attitude from HQ makes it feel pretty unpleasant there.

Whole different story here. The rules are at least as strict, but they realize nobody is perfect. If you make an error, they politely let you know, so you can fix it.

Wizzley is like Squidoo in many ways, which makes it easy to adjust. In some ways, it's much better by being less complex to more direct in creation. The focus is on your content, not so much of picking the right number and kind of modules and figuring how to make them work.

And for me, the community has been great. People who read your material aren't looking to get quid pro quo "Squidlikes" or "Angel Blessings" to rank higher in Squidoo payouts. Since Wizzley's rewards relate directly to how well your work fits the needs of the web, internal manipulation is not a factor.

Yes, I love Wizzley.  I can't say enough good about this place.

I just don't want to do a coloring page that may not be wanted here.  I don't like to bad mouth anybody, but I feel it's disrespectful to Squidoo writers to simple shut off a page without at least a short sentence saying why.

That is such a good summary of some of the many things that make Wizzley such a refreshing, invigorating place to create content.

DustyToes I can feel your pain.  I am holding on in there at the moment anyway.

Why not droip Chef a line directly with your question?

The main problems with "coloring pages" seem to be a lack of written content (a useful article) and frequent copyright infringements.

If the images are yours, and you can present them within a helpful article, I don't see a reason why we would not accept this on our site.  Smile

I haven't much to contribute as I'm not on Squidoo.  But I just wanted to add a {{{hugs}}} and sorry to hear it's being so frustrating for you all.  Hopefully it'll sort itself out soon.

Are you saying you need such long arms because I'm so fat? Are you?

I got just one lens on that site and it's traffic from around 20 views a day (Which is noting in itself) has gone to 9 views in the past week! of those 2 are mine from editing... The rank from around 11k has gone down to 40k or so. I'm thinking of moving it here.

Any idea how I unpublish it from there or do I copy the content and then delete it? That's the most insightful article I've written on a rev-sharing site ever, so don't want to see it go down that way

I have had lenses locked on Squidoo, some I got republished, some got ignored. Mostly they were lenses that were not doing that well and they needed attention. I could not get some of my locked lenses republished so I simply published them as a new page!

It was very disappointing that having reworked them and asked admin to republish them I got no response and then to find out that they published as a new page without any further changes almost made me angry but I have plenty of other things to make me mad so I tried to ignore this.

It feels like the Squidoo admin does not really care about its authors; one gets a very different feeling here.

For reference, Dustytoes, I had some trouble with a coloring lens but got it sorted out by including some text and cutting down on Amazon products. The coloring pages were created by myself, you can see it here, it might help you rework yours - http://www.squidoo.com/coloringpagestoprint.

Thanks but that's not what I needed. On other sites we can unpublish our articles right.  Was wondering if there's a  way to do it over at squidoo

No you cannot unpublish other than deleting the lens. You will however need to follow the advice in that thread about removing it from the Google Index before adding it here otherwise it will be flagged as duplicate content.

I appreciate you may be aware of that but, given there are many looking to move content, it is always best to not skip that step when posting advice so that people don't fall foul of the process involved Laughing

No, I'm saying you need such long arms because you're hugging all of us at once, Chef.

From my recent experience, I would also suggest that if you do want to publish something here, you contact Google quickly after you've deleted the content from Squidoo. It's much easier to get Google to remove a bunch of 404  'link not valid' pages than it is to try and prove that a piece was yours months after it was taken down when you find some 'ahem' has scraped it.
