Query About Using All Posters

Hello - I'm new and really pleased to be here. Thanks in advance for any help.

I like writing about painters and enjoy illustrating my articles with pictures of their work.    However, a lot of them like, for instance,  L S Lowry aren't available to use on websites without payment.  I have signed up for Viglink only - no separate affiliates (that's ok, isn't it?)   - so does this mean I can use All Posters pics within my text modules to illustrate my articles as well as having the separate All Posters ads in my post?

I hope this makes sense - I'm just getting my head round this but enjoying it!    thanks for your help  (please reply in words of one syllable - bear of small brain here) Wink xx

Hi Kathleen,

Yes, signing up to Vigilink alone is just fine.  But it is worth considering the potential missed revenue from the others too.   Vigilink does monetize many of those anyway.  For Amazon products that will be at a higher rate than going direct, unless you are selling enough to get into the 7% band rate.

I'm not a member of the Wizzley team, but my guess is that it's fine to use All Posters adverts.

You might be on slightly shakier ground lifting the picture to add to your text module though.  There may be copyright on some images, which means that they'd be looking at you with an angry face.

There is a way around it.   Check out how I placed a picture here:  Tower of London hauntings.  That placed the image where I wanted it, but kept it as an advert.  It was an Amazon one, but there's nothing stopping you doing the same with All Posters.  Here's how I set that up:

Hello Jo!   thanks so much for that.   I think I get it now.   If it's with a text box then I suppose a reader can't click on it to buy it so that's not done.  But if it's done as you've done it, then the advertisers are ok with it because they stand to gain sales.

I like the way you've done that - it looks brilliant.   Do you just drag the text box down the side?

Thanks!

I made the text box half size.  You can do it with the double sided arrow icon, next to the delete icon.

Glad to hear that it's a good solution for you!   I do like having lots of pictures in there, as it breaks up the text.  People seem to warm to not having great walls of text these days.  It's not often that I do it as shown, as I usually just insert a picture into the text module itself.  Perhaps I should do it this way more often.

I'll definitely do that - this is such good news because we didn't have this facility, as you know, on Suite - so I was restricted by which artists I could write about.  An article about painters is quite dull without the actual paintings!  So now I can put in stuff  from All Posters if they have it!

Cheers Jo!

I use AllPoster images all the time, they are a beautiful and professional addition to Wizzes. That is if your actually promote and sell the product. It's a win win for sure.

You're going to have so much fun with it as the art is limitless.  Have fun with it. Laughing

That's great encouragement - I am excited about it.  It's a learning curve which is really interesting!

Thanks for that, Katie!

All posters is like the loophole to copyright infringement- no you can't lift the images to use outside the all posters monetization model- that is definitely copyright infringement, although they want you to use the pictures they want them to be there to promote sales of the poster or get people to the site- that's the deal we make to use them.

Amazon has an amazing gallery image module and between those two sites and the amazing pixabay.com public domain images site, you won't need much more... it's just about learning how to wield the module swords to create brilliant sculptures that don't look so much like ads.

On the amazon gallery mode I've used a big picture but turned off all the check marks in the module so only the image is showing, to the visitor there is no sign (edit: correction there IS a tiny "ad" link but like all posters it's barely noticable) that it's not just a picture, but if they click it it will take them to the product page on amazon- usually I want the button in there so they know they can buy it and it's pretty inconspicuous in there even in a row of amazon gallery pictures/product ads, but there are times I want just the picture mainly and will use that to get it without ads or any buttons...

It's technically still an ad and useful as an ad (most people hovering over the image will know at that point it's an amazon ad)... all posters there is no way to remove all "ad" related references but the one they put in there is so small and light grey it's fine.

Jerrico - That's such useful information.  I really like the way your article looks with the 'ads' - it looks very clean and fresh.  I am definitely going to try and keep my articles like that too as I like things to be simple.  Even though the images are quite large they don't grate do they - because you've removed the fussy bits!

If you don't mind me asking - do I have to sign up for Allposters affiliation then?   Or does just being with Vigilink suffice?   I think Jo said it was ok to be with Vigilink alone - but when I went into my settings there was a message which said I had to put my amazon Affiliate number in my settings.  So I put it in.  However, I am not an affiliate of Allposters.

Would appreciate advise - thanks so much.

Thank you Kathleen, to use all posters on the site you do need to sign up for their affiliate program, then you just add the picture number (item ID is next to the image or in the url as a series of numbers) and choose big or small (a bit limited compared to using amazon gallery but the images you can get are stunning!). I signed up for all posters never expecting to make money, just wanted the images- I've sold 0 posters and barely get even 2 people a month visiting through the picture- but I don't care if I make money I just like the resource :). You should sign up with all the models, even if you don't plan to use them because as you grow you will undoubtedly want to try them if nothing else to add bling to your page.

All the monetize options have a link to the main page in yourprofile next to where you'd enter it. Just start clicking through and signing up- setting up payment through paypal (I get direct deposit through amazon so money just "shows up" there one day :)

I'm getting better at formatting my pages but the fun is in the process. When you create a cool effect you can simply duplicate it on the next article if you want... I like my articles to be completely unique from any others (at least I strive for it) but you don't have to do that, just make sure your content is well written and informative- that's the biggest step as it will make or break your pages ranking on search engines. The internal score is there to give you a clue as to your pages performance earning and traffic wise, but the real  number you need to pay attention to is your traffic, click through's, and off wizzley traffic... but all will come in due time, don't rush it, have fun with it- that's essential to maintaining your motivation- and give yourself a high five every time you learn something no matter how small- those little ambitions are worth more than the big paycheck or anything else for they will fortify your ambition...

Good Luck! (and welcome if I haven't welcomed you already)!

Jerrico

Jerrico - thank you so much for that. Like Jo, you are very  generous with your time and experience.  I am understanding things a lot more now.    I agree with your approach wholeheartedly and the ideals behind it.

Nite nite from London.

Your welcome, what good is knowledge and experience if you don't share it with those that also need it :)

Ironically and this wasn't planned, but I started working on an article I wrote years ago and am updating for Wizzley called "The Physics Of Motivation - Discover The Secret Fuel Of Success And Drive" which covers what I mentioned in the last post (micro accomplishments fueling lasting ambition)... again ironically, this article uses almost exclusively- the allposters images in it (at least right now)... so you can take a look for some use options if you like when it's published... twill be at wizzley.com/motivation..

Brilliant!  I'm definitely going to read that - in fact,  I'm 'following'  you now!   So if you see an elderly lady in a duffle coat outside your house puling a shopping trolley, it's me.  (I think that's what 'following' means?).

I'm newish to  Wizzley - my question:

I'm signed up as a journalist with most of London's (and other UK) art galleries and museums.

They make images available to use when writing specifically about their exhibitions or the contents of their galleries/museums.

Is it permissble to use these images on Wizzley? The art galleries/museums always notify me if certain images must not be used on the web - it's exceedingly rare that that happens.

If the galleries provide specific materials for the press, I can't see any reasons why you should not use them in your wizzles, Frances.

Chef - thanks for the prompt reply - now I can write with no worries.

I do have another question :

On the Wizzley settings page it asks for Chitika Channel but I can't figure out what this means.  Is this a question you can answer?

You have an AdSense account, right?

AdSense is much better than Chitika, and since you can use only one of them on your account, you don't have to worry about anything concerning Chitika.

For the record: Chitika channels help with tracking your Chitika earnings from Wizzley, separately from your other sites, similar to AdSense channels.

Thanks Chef -

Yes, I have an Adsense account.  although I'm not sure if I've set it up right! I'm learning as I go along.
