How To Keep A Journal

by MoonMaa

Keeping a journal helps you stay focused and it is liberating.

Keeping a personal journal is a lot of fun. It is a great way to get your thoughts out of your mind and onto paper. It's just something that happens when your thoughts come alive. This is a great way to get your thoughts to come alive. This is also a great way for your thoughts to become realities. The picture is a lot clearer now that you can read your own thoughts out loud.

First find out what do you want to write about. What is your journal going to be about? Is it just to document your daily activities? Is it to help you stay more focused? Is it to help you get more organized? What are the reasons you have decided to journal? Is your journal going to be public or private? It can be both. However, if you are journaling to help you get more focused I would recommend you keep it private. The decision is ultimately yours. If you think it could help someone else. Then, by all means you can share it with other's. I would also recommend that once you decide to keep a journal that you write in it everyday or every other day just to get in the process of writing your thoughts on paper. Sometimes, if your not used to expressing your thoughts out loud than it might be a challenge for you. It really helps if you write often to help you with that.

Make sure that you write the day and date on all of your journal entries. This is a good way to see how you have progressed since the time you started the journal. The only thing left to do is grab your journal and pen and start writing!

Isn't keeping a journal old news? Who still does that? A lot of people. (Me included) My journal is mainly about my goals. It really helps me figure out what I want to do and accomplish. Sometimes, life just gets busy and we forget all the wonderful things that we would like to do. A journal is a great reminder. It is also a documentary of our lives throughout the years. It's nice to have something that you can look back on and see how you were then and how you are now. You're probably thinking to yourself,"That's what pictures are for right?" Pictures are for the physical, but your journal is what you were thinking mentally. You know how you look at a picture of yourself and you think,"What was I thinking at that moment?" If you keep a journal you can know what you were thinking at different times of your life.

It is also helpful with the thinking process. You can also keep a small notepad with you at all times if you don't want to forget an idea that you have. Many people do that all the time. That way you won't forget it no matter where you might be. Writing in a journal can also be a source of encouragement. A lot of times it's hard for us to paint a picture of what we need or like to do. Writing brings it to life for you. It is encouraging knowing that you can just write it down on paper. It is a way for us to overcome our fears. We have documented it now all is left to do is put it in action. Keeping a journal is also a stress reliever too. Whatever your feeling you can write those thoughts down. Even dissect why you might be feeling that way. You can also improve your writing skills too.

This is something that the whole family can participate in. Everyone can keep a journal. Lastly, but not least is it is fun! I look forward to what I will write down next. I can't wait to write down the things that I think about and aspire to do.

You might want to save paper and it's a great way to cut down on the amount of paper that you use. It can be another way for you to contribute to the recycling cause. Also, if you have a hard time with keeping up with things and you are in the process of getting organized. Having an online journal is good because you won't have to worry about it getting lost. Even if you lose your password you won't have any problems with resetting it. With an online journal you can share your thoughts with other people. If you don't mind hearing other people's opinions and comments. You might even find an audience for yourself of a group of people who share the same feelings as you do.

You might think that if you are an overly private person that having an online journal is not for you, but you are sadly mistaken. If you are worried about someone finding your journal and reading it they will not be able to because it is online. (unless they get the password which I'm sure you that won't be easy) Now, that won't be a worry for you anymore, because it is online. You can even control the settings of your journal by making it private so that only you can see your journal entries. So, an online journal can be of good use to you. It just depends on what your needs are.
