Me and My Combination Last

I have weird feet. I know many people do, too, but mine have always been a real pain. My feet, I was told from a young age when trying in vain to find a shoe that fit, require a shoe that is a combination last.

What?

Well, a last is the mold or form used to make shoes. A combination last means the width of the shoe is wider than the heel, in proportion to each other. In other words, my heels are narrow and tiny compared to my big, fat, wide feet. I've been known to step right out of shoes because my heel doesn't have that grip potential needed to stay in the shoe.

That meant I had to either wear clogs (no heel to slip out of!) or shoes that tie or have an adjustable strap of some sort to wedge my foot in tight so the heel would stay put.

As I've aged, my feet have grown. I used to wear a 7-1/2 size shoe, then an 8, now depending on the shoe, I have to buy an 8-1/2 or 9. Ugh.

Sounds perfect for hiking, a favorite pastime of mine. I'd like to do it barefoot but OUCH that doesn't work, these keen sandals seem as if they'd be as near to barefoot as possible but with comfort, protection and support. Love Them! Thanks for the review.
