Pajamas Featuring an ASCII Cat Design
ASCII Cat Pajamas
This line of pajamas with cats features an adorable cat face made with the text art style called ASCII art. ASCII art was invented back in the sixties and seventies before printers had graphics capabilities. Pictures were made using only the 95 printable characters as defined by the American Standard Code for Information Interchange, thus having the acronym of ASCII. I have seen some incredibly detailed ASCII art and I wonder how many hours must have gone into making it. I am always amazed at people's creativity.
ASCII art was very popular in the eighties and nineties before the advent of the internet, and when Bulletin Board Systems were prevalent. When I got my first computer in the nineties, a computer geek friend of mine had a local Bulletin Board System (BBS). We could play games, get news feeds, and message back and forth with a local group of people. I thought it was very cool but it was primitive compared to what we have today. When everyone began to get internet access, my friend took down her BBS. I was sad to see it go but now, with the internet, our "local" community is even bigger. Today I have an international group of friends thanks to the internet.
The world moves on. These pajamas with the retro ASCII cat design are a tribute to more tecnologically simpler times. I hope you enjoy them.
"The cat's pajamas" means that something is very cool. From what I can ascertain, the phrase originated in the 1920s. It was in common usage by school girls who also used phrases such as "the bee's knees."
Cats sleep many hours a day but they still seem to be somewhat alert. It is hard to sneak up on a cat because they sleep lightly. These pajamas are for YOUR cat naps! Those naps you take when you need a little boost of energy or when you grab a nap knowing you have to get up soon.
"The cat's meow" is another phrase said to have originated in the 1920s along with "the cat's pajamas." It has the same meaning too. If it's the cat's meow then it's very cool or "with it." For example, these pajamas are not only the cat's meow, they are the cat's pajamas too!
All of these pajama sets are mix and match. You can choose a white or black t-shirt and you can choose pink plaid or black plaid pajama pants. The flannel pajama pants and the t-shirts are both 100% cotton for cozy comfort. The pajama sets are available in sizes Small to 2X.
