I don’t know why I love these little speakers so much. I think it is the simple shape that lends itself to a tiny little piece of art on its front.
The portable speaker is by OrigAudio™ and comes with a little kickstand to keep it propped up. It can be powered by your computer by a USB cable that is included, or two AAA batteries that are not included. It has a 3.5 mm headphone jack that is compatible with any standard music device.

Trumpet Vine Speaker
Trumpet vines are wild growing plants that grow all over Texas and North America. Many people plant them in their gardens to enjoy the blossoms.
I remember from my childhood the trumpet vines that grew beside my grandparents' house. The hummingbirds loved them and I would watch them sipping nectar as I drifted off to sleep for a nap.
These vines were growing down the road from where I am living now. I photographed them and did a little alteration with Photoshop,.
Batik Doodle Speaker Cover
Several years ago I got my hands on a big book on batik dyeing. One of the techniques was doing batik on paper. I had plenty of dye from dying wool, so I thought I'd give it a try. It is done the same way you do cloth batik. I painted a design on the paper with wax and then put it in dye. I added several layers and then removed the wax with a hot iron. It was lots of fun and I came out with some interesting patterns.
This is one of the designs I created. I scanned it on the computer so that I'd have an original design to use on Zazzle.
Cockatoo Speaker
This is another original watercolor I did of Alex, the baby cockatoo. He was hand-raised until he was old enough to go to his new home. I was lucky enough to get a photograph of him that I used to paint the picture from.
He was a sweet little guy but I heard he learned how to open his cage one day while his family was out and did some creative redecorating. I love these birds but they do need a lot of attention.
Purple Tone Doodle Speaker
I have to confess, I love the color purple. I was playing around with colors in Photoshop and came up with this design. I went a little crazy putting it on every product that it would fit on.
I do love the way colors fit on these little speakers. Purple reminds me of my very good friend who is now halfway across the country.
Black and White Doodle Speaker
While I was experimenting in Photoshop, I thought to try no color, or at least black and white. This is something that is rather out of my comfort zone. I tend to paint pictures of landscapes and animals. Stark black and white is a different way of thinking for me.
Black and white is always so elegant. It is clean and cool looking and vaguely reminds me of zebras. You never know what you will see in the random streaks and slashes of black and white.

There are more of these nifty little speakers on Zazzle. The reviews on the speakers themselves have been overwhelmingly positive. They are quite small at 4.5 inches long, 2.5 inches wide, and 7/8 of an inch deep. They weigh a mere 9.6 ounces, yet they have a good sound without being tinny.
They make great gifts. I think I'm going to start a collection.
