Review of Chef’s Cupboard Herb Stuffing Mix

by StevenHelmer

I decided to make a box of this last night to go with dinner. Read to find out what I thought of it.

Product Description: Pre-packaged stuffing mix from the Chef’s Cupboard brand. Stuffing is prepared by adding water and butter to the box contents and can either be made on the stovetop or in the microwave (I prepared it using the microwave) with a cook/prep time of around 10 minutes or so. My wife purchased this product at our local Aldi grocery store a couple weeks ago and I made it to go with a chicken dinner last night.

A Decent Bargain-Priced Brand

Chef's Cupboard StuffingI found a sale on chicken legs a few days ago and, since it was something I knew would go over well with my family, I asked my wife to make them in the slow cooker yesterday so we could have them for dinner last night.

When I got home, I realized we still needed some sort of side dish to go with the chicken and, after searching our pantry for a couple minutes, I found a box of Chef’s Cupboard Herb Stuffing Mix. This sounded somewhat different from the mashed potatoes my kids were asking for and I decided to make the stuffing to go with dinner.

As far as convenience goes, I had no complaints about this product. All I had to do was add some hot water and butter then cook it in my microwave for about 6 minutes. It was something I could do while looking for a vegetable to make and was simple enough that my daughter, had I asked her, could have made this without any real supervision from my wife or me.

I did have some concerns about this product from a taste standpoint because, even though I have had it in the past, it had been a while and I wasn’t really sure if it was one of the better bargain brands or a brand I wouldn’t enjoy. As it turns out, it fell into the former category and had a decent flavor that wasn’t too salty (a major problem with some other brands). The stuffing also turned out to be moist but firm. This was also an improvement over many other brands that either end up too dry or mushy.

I even thought the quantity was pretty decent. When I first started making this, I thought there wouldn’t be enough. However, we still had enough left for one more serving. This did add some value for me.

Final Opinion

This is a decent bargain-priced brand of instant stuffing mix. I thought it exceeded my expectations and is a product I would definitely recommend.

StevenHelmer, Thank you for practical information, pretty pictures and product lines.
This is a product that I like knowing about because high-quality boxed stuffing can expand fresh stuffing when there are more guests or more requests of "tastes like more" than expected.

What would you do had the product been too salty?
