Review of Kirkland Signature Soft & Chewy Granola Bars

by StevenHelmer

I purchased a box of 60 while shopping at Costco last weekend. Read to find out if it was a good purchase.

Product Description: Soft & chewy chocolate chip granola bars from the Kirkland Signature brand. I purchased a box of 60 granola bars while back-to-school shopping at Costco last weekend with the intention of having the bars for school lunches and snacks. I tried a couple of these granola bars today.

Review

My daughters went back to school last week and, as part of that, my wife and I took them to Costco the weekend before in an effort to stock up on back-to-school food items for their school snacks and days when they decide to take cold lunch.

One of the items on our list was granola bars. This is because their schools are somewhat strict about kids bringing "healthy" snacks, a category granola bars fall into, and because they are easy to slip into their backpacks or lunch bags.

After looking at a couple different brands, we elected to purchase a box of 60 granola bars from the Kirkland Signature brand. We had never tried this particular product before and didn't know what to expect from it. However, it was the most affordable brand and, considering we were already spending quite a bit, that weighed heavily in our decision. However, as it turns out, these are pretty decent bars.

Even though we primarily bought these for the kids, there were enough in the box for me to feel comfortable taking a couple of these to work with me as an afternoon snack. After trying them, I have to say I was very impressed.

First of all, the "soft & chewy" description is one that can mean quite a few different things, including chewy to the point it hurts your teeth to eat the bar. This brand, however, ended up fitting right in with what I expected when I purchased it. The bars were easy to bite into and chew but still firm enough where they didn't fall apart.

As far as taste goes, this was definitely something I did have to get a little used to. The bars were actually sweeter than I was expecting them to be. At first, I wasn't really sure if this was something I would like about them. But, after getting used to the taste, I can honestly say I have no complaints about it. In fact, I like these better than some of the better-known (more expensive) brands, something that makes the lower price much more of a value.

Final Opinion

This is a good product for a good price. It is something I would recommend to others and a product I will definitely purchase again in the future.
