Review of Perdue Panko Breaded Chicken Breast Nuggets

My wife and I had to make a trip to Madison, WI this past weekend and, while we were there, decided to stop in Sun Prairie and visit Costco. Even though we had been at Costco the week before, we had a short list of items we were in need of. This included a simple dinner idea we could make for our daughters on skate nights. After some consideration, that ended up being a bag of Perdue Panko Breaded Chicken Breast Nuggets.

Our decision to buy this product was based on price. The 5-pound bag of nuggets was less than $11 and, given the large quantity, we felt it was a good bargain. After trying the nuggets, however, I do have to say I am equally impressed with the quality too.

To tell you the truth, when I first prepared some of these, in the microwave, I wasn't overly impressed with the breading because, at least when cooked using that method, it didn't seem to be different from any other brand. However, when I made these in our toaster oven, I did discover there really was a difference. The lighter breading became crisper quicker and gave the nuggets a much more pleasant texture as a result of that.

As far as taste goes, I can honestly say this is one of the better brands of frozen nuggets I have tried. The nuggets have a decent amount of meat in them without resorting to a bunch of filler (which, at least with many other brands, is a way of saying chicken fat). As a result of that, they have a really nice taste to them I definitely enjoyed when I first tried them.

I'm also pleased to say my daughters shared my opinion of them. Both have tried these and both loved them. My youngest daughter, who rarely eats more than a couple nuggets from other brands, even finished all six I gave her yesterday afternoon. This was pretty impressive considering, in addition to tasting better, the all-breast-meat nuggets are surprisingly filling.

As I said, I made the purchase because I thought the nuggets were a good bargain. After trying them, I can honestly say they more than exceeded my expectations. I would definitely recommend these.
