Review of Sunkist Grape Soda

I had to run to the store yesterday afternoon to pick up a few everyday items we were running low on. While I was there, I decided to check out the soft drink section in search of a non-caffeinated Mountain Dew alternative. I saw the Sunkist Grape Soda was on sale and, since it had been a while since I had a grape soda and it was a good price, I decided to pick it up.

I have had this brand before. But, it had been a while and I didn't remember much about it. After trying it again, my opinion of it, unfortunately, wasn't as good as I thought it would be.

I won't say this soda was bad because it did have an OK taste to it. But, when compared to similar products from other brands, it did seem to lack something.

I think the thing that I noticed first about this soda was the way it had a very syrupy flavor to it. While this isn't a huge deal with other flavors of soda, it did make it a little hard to taste the grape flavor in this beverage. In fact, when I first drank this, I only really noticed the sugar long before I could taste anything that resembled grape.

As a result of this, I've found the best way to drink this particular brand of grape soda is by adding a lot of ice to it in an effort to thin it out a bit. This, unfortunately, isn't always an option for me and does reduce some of the value in my opinion, especially since I don't have to do that with many other grape soda brands.

This is an OK soda. But, when compared to similar products from other brands, it just isn't good enough. I may purchase it again. But, I think that would only be if it is on sale again.
