Singer 7469Q Confidence Electronic Quilting and Sewing Machine

by fitzcharming

Looking for a computerized sewing machine that is affordable and has many of the advanced features in expensive quilting machines? Consider the Singer 7469Q.

This sewing machine is great for a beginner or as a 2nd machine for an experienced quilter. The price is going to be very hard to beat if you’re on a budget, or if your fabric obsession devours much of your quilting cash.

My new Singer 7469Q will be living at my mom’s mountain cabin in North Georgia. It’s the perfect place to create masterpiece comfy quilts, and then cuddle up by a warm fire.

Here’s a Run-Down On the Main Features and Functions

Stitches

The stitching features and qualities are one of the first things I analyze in a quilting machine. This one has a very generous 98 different built in stitches that are easily programmable from the push buttons on the front. 12 can be used with one button push, the others are easily found with a few clicks of the numerical selection arrows.

If you’re sewing fashion garments you’ll appreciate the stretch stitches for their flexibility when sewing knits. And the 7 different easy button hole stitches let you make any length button hole and they turn out right every time.

Singer 7469Q Front Panel

It’s got lots of decorative stitches for sewing crafts and home decor, and they tie off automatically so nothing unravels. You can also use two needles for creating unique designs. The decorative stitches are great for applique, topstitching, embroidery, stippling, and more. The zigzag stitch allows you to taper off at the center when you need to create points in your designs. Once again, the  options are all available by pushing buttons on the front. My favorite option is the hand look quilting stitch, which pulls the bobbin thread to the top to create an heirloom look.

All of the stitch patterns are adjustable both in length and width, according to your personal preference. The widest setting is a generous 7mm for bolder design patterns. Or you can use the auto optimum setting for size and tension. Whichever size you choose, it’s displayed in the LED panel. If you’re a speedy sewer this machine will sew up to 750 stitches per minute.

Needle

The Singer 7469Q Confidence quilter has a fast and easy needle threader, and 13 different needle positions for any type of project – zippers, cording, topstitching, etc. The auto reverse function can be set to reinforce your stitches at the beginning and end without even thinking about it. The needle is also programmable to stop up or down, which is a huge plus when sewing patchwork and pivoting.

Bobbin

The bobbin on the Singer 7469Q loads from the top very easily and has a jam resistant design. You also don’t have to pull up the bobbin thread when you start sewing, you just drop in the bobbin and go. When you wind a bobbin, the needle disengages automatically which saves time and aggravation.

Presser Feet and Feed Dogs

There are 9 different presser feet included with the Singer 7469Q Confidence Quilter. They include

  • General purpose presser foot
  • Buttonhole presser foot
  • Zipper foot
  • Blind hem foot
  • Darning and Embroidery foot
  • ¼ Inch foot – perfect for creating patchwork quilt blocks
  • Open toe foot
  • Even feed foot
  • Satin stitch foot

They snap on and off easily so no tools are needed when changing the presser feet. The presser foot lifter is extra high to accommodate thick fabrics and layers (quilts of course). And the presser foot pressure control keeps the stitches even no matter what the fabric weight. You can feel confident when sewing everything from crepe to thick denim. There is a lifter for the feed dogs that lowers them for free motion stitches, embroidery, and button holes. The feed dog mechanism itself moves in a box motion, ensuring even movement from front to back of the presser foot.

Extension Table and Free Arm Sewing

This can be used as a flat bed or free arm machine. The extra large extension flat bed area is perfect for sewing big projects like quilts and curtains, and it slides off easily for sewing sleeves, pant legs, children’s clothes, and other awkward sized projects. And there is a large throat area that allows you to roll up fabrics.

Accessories and Warranty

In addition to the presser feet, you also get all these accessories -

  • Needles
  • Bobbins
  • Auxiliary spool pin
  • Thread spool felts
  • Spool caps
  • Seam ripper/lint brush
  • Screwdriver
  • Extension table
  • Foot pedal
  • Power cord
  • Instruction manual

The warranty is 25 years certain parts, 5 years on electronics, and 1 year for labor. There are over 80 reviews on the Amazon website, where most users gave it 4 and 5 stars. I suggest reading a few to get more personal insights and opinions. You can read them here –>> Singer 7469Q Computerized Quilting Machine Reviews on Amazon. And of course Amazon has good prices and free shipping if you decide to buy from there.

If I'm going to start quilting again, I'll need a simple machine like this. Relatively simple, that is. Everything is computerized now.
