Small Bedroom Decorating Ideas

Here are some tips for decorating a small bedroom. These small bedroom decorating ideas will have your room looking beautiful!

When it comes to decorating a small bedroom, there are a few tricks you can use to make your space appear beautiful:

  • Eliminate Clutter
In any room, I recommend removing all clutter. However, getting rid of clutter is even more important when it comes to a small bedroom. There's an old saying, you can't organize clutter, and I've found this is very true. So start by getting rid of your clutter - anything that you don't love or use. This includes "backup" items that are never used and clothes that you don't wear. Once you do this, you'll find that you have a lot more space.
  • Go Vertical
If you need more storage in a small bedroom, it never hurts to install shelving on the walls. Don't opt for low side tables and dressers - instead, install shelves that go high up. If necessary, you can use the space above your bed for more shelving
  • Go Under The Bed
Similarly, if you need more storage, use the space under your bed. You can get roller boxes with lids that you can use to store seasonal clothes, books, blankets, etc
  • Use Mirrors
Mirrors are a great way to add more light into a room and make your room seem bigger. However, try not to get mirrors which you can see from your bed - it's very unsettling when you try to sleep.
  • Use Calming Colors
Lighter colors can make your room seem bigger. Even better is to stick to one color scheme throughout the room - this makes objects fade into each other, thus creating the illusion of more space.
  • Use Mood Lighting
Harsh lighting is a mood killer and not conducive to romance. In addition, using soft lighting like lamps, makes the corners and walls recede, which means that your room looks bigger than it is.

Remember that the key to applying small bedroom decorating ideas properly is to keep it clean and tidy - and most importantly, free of clutter! Do a regular clutter-check and of course keep everything neat and in its place.

Of course, when designing any bedroom, remember to add some personal touches as well. These can be in the form of candles in your favorite scent or your favorite scent of reed diffuser, or photos and artwork. Wall art and fabrics do not take up extra space, and while they won't help you to maintain the monochrome color scheme, they will add some personality to your room.
