The Menu and Our Choices
The menu has a wide variety of items to choose from. I have to admit that we went a little overboard in the number of items we ordered. I could not make up my mind when it came to some things so I ordered both items. We were on a date and I could do what I wanted. The waiter, Gabe, found humor in me trying to decide what to order. He was a good sport throughout it all. We settled on the following items.
- Primi or Appetizer – Calamari Fritti – this was a lightly breaded calamari served with horseradish sauce and marinara. The breading was delicious and the calamari was very tender. The horseradish sauce was my favorite and added just the right spice to the calamari.
- Insalata & Zuppa (soup and salad) – Lobster Bisque for soup and Insalata della Casa for salad.
The Lobster Bisque was a rich and hearty cream soup with a touch of sherry and finished off with diced, poached shrimp. This soup was delicious. I am so glad that I ordered it. I also got a salad and almost did not order the soup for fear of looking like a pig. The server even said that it would be too much for me to eat. Oh well.. I did it anyway. Words can not describe how good this soup was.
The Insalata della Casa consisted of chopped greens, cucumbers, bacon, tomatoes, crispy pasta, and a creamy Parmesan dressing. This is the second time I have gotten this salad. It is the right mixture of all the ingredients and the dressing is wonderful. It is topped with Parmesan cheese to add to the overall Parmesan taste. Good stuff!
- Pasta and Specialita Della Casa ( Entree) - Pasta BRAVO and Mama's Lasagna Bolognese
Pasta BRAVO – One of their signature dishes. Rigatoni pasta tossed with grilled chicken and mushrooms in a roasted red pepper cream sauce. My husband (my date) ate this in seconds flat and pretty much wiped his plate clean. Delicious.
Mama's Lasagna Bolognese – Creamy alfredo sauce and classic meat sauce from the heart of Italy. The twist of the alfredo sauce with this scared me a little bit. It was really rich and so full of flavor. The meat sauce was wonderful. Have not had lasagna this good in a long time. I did not clear my plate because I wanted to make room for desert! I intended on taking the rest home to eat for lunch the next day. Guess what?! I walked right out and left it on the table. I was so mad when I got home and realized I did not have my left overs. Oh well.. Guess I must make another trip soon to get some more of this great lasagna.
- Dolci (Desert) – crème Brulee, Warm Berry Cake, and Ghirardelli Cake
The Crème Brulee was great with powdered sugar and a strawberry on top.
The Warm Berry Cake consisted of strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries cooked in a warm butter cake with a small scoop of vanilla gelato on top. It melted in my mouth it was so good. We had coffee with our desert and just sat back and relaxed.
Recommended for Date Night
This restaurant exceeded my expectations for the second time in a row. The atmosphere is so romantic and the food is too good to explain. I would recommend this restaurant for your next date night.
