The Man Cave - Decorating Ideas

by Angel

You can make a man cave in any room in your home. All it takes is a little creativity and a few things that you like.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a room that completely reflected you and not something that your wife put together with matching drapes and carpets? It is easy to create a room for yourself to hang out by yourself or with your friends. You may have to get permission from the wife to use this additional space. Having a man cave is a good thing. It gives you a place to get away from the stresses of every day life and a recreational room for you and your guests. It can be a room that is used to work, entertain, host parties, do hobbies, or to just get away. Hopefully you have a room, garage, or basement in mind and can use some of these tips.

Pick a Room for Your Man Cave

This may be the hardest part of the whole process. As I mentioned, you may have to have some serious discussions with the wife on where you can totally take over. Space is precious in our homes and it may be hard to come up with a suitable place. Just think about this. You are really just looking for a place to let your personality shine through. That could be a home office, study, or just a corner in a dead end hall way. I have seen things like this. They are great ideas to make your place. Most commonly used areas are the garage and basement. Not all homes have these so you might have to get creative. Just don't give up. You will be able to find yourself a great place to call your own.

What is Your Style?

Think about the things you like. What is your personality? Are you most comfortable in an office environment? A recreational room? Any of these could be your theme. Do you like sports? Add a few posters of old movies, some old road signs, and album covers for a cool place to just hang out. Pull in all the stuff you collected as a kid. Like stamp collections, baseball cards, etc. Make it your own.

What to Put in Your Man Cave

Once you have figured out your style, it will help you a lot with knowing what direction to go in with decorations and necessities. A few ideas of things to add are:

  • Mini fridge
  • TV
  • Video Games
  • Bar
  • Pool Table
  • Posters
  • Music
  • Snacks and Drinks
  • Wall Hangings
  • That deer you shot and got the head mounted that has been in the attic for years.

Women need a room of their own so why not men. This article made me smile.

I am also amazed at how neat and organized our garage is compared to his areas in the house. Oh well... I think it is nice for men to have their own area where they can decorate it the way they want. You know how we can be about hanging up their "stuff" inside the house. Ha.. Thanks for reading and commenting.

My husbands' is in his garage and everytime I enter I am surprised by how "domesticated" he is becoming! (In his garage/mancave at least!)
