The Martha Stewart Show and My Cuisinart Panini Grill

by candy47

This is where I got the best audience gift ever. Well, it was the best for me!

You might be wondering what the Martha Stewart Show and my Cuisinart Griddler have in common. I was living in New Jersey for a few years during the time when Martha Stewart hosted a homemaking television show in New York City. There was cooking, crafting, gardening and usually a celebrity guest who shared their particular expertise or assisted Martha in creating something spectacular.

The Martha Show was live and taped in front of an audience. I went to the show several times and each time all the members of the audience were given gifts. One time we all got a bag of rice and a Cadbury chocolate bar. Another time we got a plastic food storage container and a cookbook. The very best was when every member of the audience was given a Cuisinart Panini Griddle!

If you ask me what panini griddle do I like the best, I would have to say the one I got for free at The Martha Stewart Show.

My Cuisinart Panini Grill

The best audience gift I ever got!

This is the Cuisinart Panini Griddler the audience members received as a gift and the crowd went wild. I'll admit that it was a bit cumbersome carrying a big heavy box around New York after the show let out, but I'm not complaining.

I use mine for more than just paninis, I grill steaks, hamburgers, seafood, vegetables, quesadillas and lots more. Anything you grill cooks equally on both sides without flipping so it's a good idea to keep that in mind when determining the length of cooking time.

Inside The Studio

It's divided into 3 sections

The set of the show is divided into three sections, kitchen, craft area and garden. Each section has everything installed that will be needed to prepare and create the featured items for that day's show.

Picture taking is allowed for just a few minutes before and after the show. No photos during taping.

In the photo below you can see Martha in the kitchen talking to the audience.

There is so much that we don't see when watching the show on television. In the studio there are people milling about with cameras, microphones, headphones and clipboards. And the lights, so many lights, wall to wall on the ceiling.

Joey Kola

The Warm-Up Comedian

Before the show begins, a warm-up comedian instructs the audience on what signals he will use throughout the show and what our reaction should be. His actions tell us when to applaud and when to stop, when we should say “oooh” and when to stop. He tells jokes, converses with the audience and gets the audience worked up into laughing and having a good time before Martha walks onto the set.

Here's Joey and Martha on April Fool's Day.

Yes Susan, I enjoyed going to the show, very exciting! I love telling the story of how I got my panini grill.

Oh, how fun to see Martha Stewart taping her TV show! I can just picture everyone leaving the studio, manhandling their new panini grills. How funny! When your panini grill eventually "dies," you'll always have the memories!

Finding a good grill is difficult. I know, my wife looked at many.

DerdriuMarriner it really was a treat to get that griddle, and the audience went wild!!

candy47, That Cuisinart Panini Griddle is a wonderful gift, and all you had to do was to be there in Martha Stewart's audience! The "April Fool" video is funny, and it's endearing that Joey was flustered, more from concern over Martha's "coughing" than over stage fright.

I don't know if audience members are paid. The shows that I've been to were all free to enter and sometimes we got a gift and sometimes not. I use the grill for steaks, burgers, fish, just about everything!
