Thomas Kinkade Brings Light into All of His Art
In more ways than one
Thomas Kinkade is known and loved globally, and is often referred to as the Painter of Light, due to his painting style. He embues most of his paintings with glowing light, which represents the spirituality and hope that he sees in the world around him.
In addition to being an artist, Kinkade spends much of his time with his foundation raising funds, and distributing them to needy children around the world. He is an inspiration in many ways.
Each year, Thomas Kinkade produces a series of calendars and planners of different sizes that feature his art. For 2012, there are several choices of wall calendars, and of planner books, and some that have spiritual quotes inside them as well.
Thomas Kinkade 2012 Calendar Partnerships
Thomas Kinkade often partners with other businesses that can enhance his work, and help him reach new audiences, and established audiences in a new way. The Disney calendar pictured to the right is an example of one of the partnerships. I love the juxtaposition of the Disney characters within Thomas Kinkade's painting. I think that this is the perfect setting for Cinderella and her prince, don't you?
Thomas Kinkade also partners with The Mountain to create t-shirts.

Painting on Location
Thomas Kinkades view of the world
My personal favorite of the Kinkade series of calendars is the Painting on Location calendar. This has scenes from around the world that Thomas Kinkade has painted in his own personal style, a mix of realism, impressionism, and that special glow that is his alone.
One of Thomas Kinkade's goal is to bring light into everyone's life through his work. I believe that this calendar does that for me.

Comments
I owned some Thomas Kinkade paintings, but donated them for a charity auction when I moved. Elite artists really look down their nose at him. They don't consider him a legitimate artist. I bet he's laughing all the way to the bank.
@WordCustard One of my criteria for picking artists in my gallery is that they have a style or styles that are distinctive. This is very true of Thomas Kinkade. You can pick his work out anywhere.
There is something magical about Thomas Kinkade's paintings, it's easy to see why Disney chose to partner with him. These calendars look beautiful and I'd love to see that Painting on Location one.
