Titleist NXT Tour Golf Balls

by goodgolf

If you're looking for a good value golf ball, you should give the Titleist NXT Tour a try.

NXT Tour Line

The Titleist NXT Tour golf ball is a dual core offering that falls a step below the company’s Pro V line of balls, which makes it a solid value in terms of high performance play without the very steep price tag of the Pro V series.  The NXT line of balls from Titleist consists of three models, the regular NXT, the NXT Extreme, and of course, the Tour variation.  Of these three selections, the Tour ball is considered the best performing one.

Titleist NXT Tour Review

Over the past summer, I played a good dozen rounds or so with the NXT Tour ball and I came away very impressed.  I love Titleist’s Pro V1 golf balls, but the price for a sleeve is just a bit too much to swallow in my opinion, so I gave the Tours a shot.  Considering the price difference, I would definitely suggest playing the NXT Tour over the Pro V1 if your budget is limited like mine is.  Hitting it in the water or into the woods doesn’t feel quite as bad this way.

As a medium speed swinger, I thought the feel of the NXT was tremendous.  It had a very firm feeling off the head of my driver and the distance was quite good as well.  Iron length seemed to be a bit above average compared to what I’m used to with a comparable performing ball.  Nothing too special, but the feel does not give way to reduced length so that’s a positive as well.  I was also very happy with the green side performance from the Titleist NXT Tour ball.  Putts held their line and spin was good and predictable on chip shots.

I’ve read several reviews that mentioned that the durability of the ball is a bit questionable, but I didn’t find this to be the case at all.  Of course, I’ve never been one to shred balls quickly though (except for Pro Vs).  Your experience may differ in this regard.  If you do happen to cut one, at least it’s not sure a hit to the wallet compared to other high end golf balls on the market.  The compression of the Tour ball is listed as 76 to 82 according to Titleist, which is a good bit softer than the Pro V1, but above all other balls produced by the company.

Overall, I’d say the Titleist NXT Tour is a tremendous option when deciding which ball should be your go-to ball for an important round of golf.  The price puts it above a lot of middle level golf balls, but that’s easily forgotten when you see it perform like top end options.  You should be able to get good distance out of it without sacrificing feel off the tee box, which cannot be said for a lot of middle of the road balls.  Durability seems to be a question with a lot of players, but from my experience, I thought the ball held up well through a round.
