Dirty Dancing tells the story of "Baby" an innocent, 17 year old spending the summer with her family in the Catskills who falls in love with Johnny Castle, the resort's much older dance instructor.  The two are forced together in order to compete in a dancing competition.  As Johnny teaches Baby to dance, the two fall in love.  However, once their love is discovered, Johnny is fired.  But he returns for the resort's end of summer performance to show to Baby's family and the entire resort that "Nobody puts Baby in a corner."  Dirty Dancing is one of the top chick flicks of all time because it not only deals with falling in love with the ultimate "bad boy" but is also set to one of the best movie soundtrack's of all time.  The Dirty Dancing soundtrack features popular songs such as (I've Had) The Time of My Life, She's Like the Wind, and Hungry Eyes,

The beloved Audrey Hepburn movie, Breakfast at Tiffany's, is a classic film that also happens to be a chick flick.  Breakfast at Tiffany's tells the story of Holly Golightly, a charming socialite in the 1960's who lives alone. Her carefree independence is changed when she meets her neighbor, an aspiring writer named Paul.  Paul is suffering from writer's block while being kept by a wealthy woman.  Paul and Holly begin to develop a romance when Doc appears and complicates matters after revealing the truth about Holly's past.  This bittersweet romance is perhaps most remembered for Hepburn's iconic image as Holly in the classic black dress and updo hairstyle.

The ultimate story of female friendship and empowerment.  Thelma and Louise run away from their troubled lives on the ultimate road trip.  While this chick flick may be all about the friendship between to women, it is also the movie that introduced the world to Brad Pitt so there is plenty of eye candy.

When Harry Met Sally asks the ultimate question "Can men and women be friends?" and the answer turns out to be no.  Harry and Sally met while driving from college to New York and years later became best friends, but friendship turned into love and the two discovered that they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together and so they did.  This 1980's chick flick contains the classic scene in which Meg Ryan "orgasms" in Katz Deli.  It's the perfect movie to enjoy on a Friday night with a bottle of wine.

Boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy gets girl back--that is the equation for the "classic" love story, but this love story has a slight twist as the girl is a hooker and the relationship is meant to be all business.  But in the movie that made Julia Roberts a star, love gets in the way. Just as the world fell in love with Julia Roberts, so did Richard Gere and in the end, he was climbing up a fire escape declaring his love in a movie that shows that anyone can fall in love.

Ally is suffering from Alzheimer's and living in a nursing home.  Her husband, Duke, reads their love story to her every day in hopes of bringing her back to him and we learn that true love can create miracles.  This tearjerking chick flick splits its time between the 1940's where Ally falls in love with and must decide between Noah and Lon and present day, where Duke reads Allly their love story.  The movie is moving and heartbreaking and quite possibly one of the best chick flicks of all time.

The second highest grossing film of all time, only recently knocked off by Avatar, not only won the Oscar for best picture but also the hearts of the world.  It proves that chick flicks can be critically acclaimed and award winning films, not just "fluff."  Titanic focused on getting every detail of the doomed vessel's first and final voyage correct except one detail, the lover story.  Rose and Jack are two star crossed lovers from two different worlds who fall in love during the Titanic's doomed voyage.  There love is epic and memorialized in the over played (and annoying) "My Heart Will Go On."

Ghost tells the story of undying love.  After being killed during a mugging, Sam's love for his wife is so strong he is able to remain on earth as a ghost.  Although Sam cannot be heard or seen by his wife, his presence is felt--as demonstrated in the iconic pottery scene.  Sam is, however, heard by a medium who connects him to his wife.

Opa!  When plain and unnoticed Toula falls in love with Ian Miller she keeps it a secret from her family because she was expected to marry a Greek boy, make Greek babies and Ian is not Greek, but when Ian proposed Toula must introduce Ian to her big, fat Greek family.  This charming chick flick is enjoyed by women and men alike and teaches us that Windex fixes everything.

Twilight, the first film in the majorly successful film franchise based upon the novels of the same name, tells the story of Bella, a teenage girl torn between her love for Edward, a vampire, and Jacob, a werewolf.  The movies deal with the battle between vampires and werewolves, but ultimately left girls and women across the country declaring whether they are Team Edward or Team Jacob.
