One key step when creating pages on Wizzley is to select a topic, a subtopic and even a sub-subtopic for your page. Look at the list of topics and subtopics to find the best one.
Wanted - a Topics List Page
In looking around Wizzley I discovered there were so many topics and subtopics and sub-subtopics that one could choose to write pages that it felt a bit overwhelming.
Looking around I couldn't find a central list of topics and subtopics. Selecting a topic, subtopic and sub-subtopic that makes it easy for viewers to find the page can be very helpful in getting your page viewed by others.
Since I couldn't find the list of topics to use as a quick reference to make sure I picked an appropriate topic for my pages, I set out to create one. Use the list to see what topics and subtopics are available to use on Wizzley.

What are Topics on Wizzley?
Topics on Wizzley are the main categories for the Wizzley pages. There are 30 different topics that Wizzley writers can choose from to categorize their pages.
Choosing the right topic for a page can be very helpful in getting the page viewed. Selecting a topic makes it easy for viewers who are browsing through the topics section of Wizzley to find the top pages in each of the categories.
Having the page in the right categorie also increases the potential for the page showing up as a "Relevant article" on the individual Topic page.

Using the Search Topics Function
The "Select topic" area also has a "Search topics" tab making searching the Wizzley topics database a breeze. To search for a topic:
- Choose "Search topics"
- Enter topic of interest (be sure it is spelled correctly).
- Read the results
- Choose a topic from one of the results.
- Click on the link. The topic, subtopic and sub-subtopic automatically populated for you.
I think the Search Topics has to be one of the coolest functions ever. It helps cut down on the random searching through topics and lets you see a potential list of topics that would work with your chosen subject.

Suggesting a New Topic
Using the "Suggest new topic" function is really easy. You can suggest a new topic right as you are are creating a page.
- Choose "Search topics"
- Enter topic of interest (be sure the word is spelled correctly)
- Look for the results
- If "Can not find a suitable topic" appears then, "Suggest new topic" will appear as a link.
- Click on the "Suggest new topic" link.
- Fill in your new topic suggestion.
Obviously if you are suggesting a new topic, you won't be able to use it right away. You need to give the Wizzley team some time to respond and decide if they want to include that topic.
You can also suggest topics for discussion with the Wizzley community by posting them in the section in the Tips, tricks, and suggestions discussion forum.

What are Subtopics and Sub-Subtopics on Wizzley?
The subtopics and sub-subtopics are ways of being able to more specifically choose the best category when writing an article.
Using my search for "death" as an example, I would end up choosing very different topic areas depending on the type of article selected.
- Entertainment & Media » Celebrities » Celebrity Deaths
- Family » Children » Death of a Child
- Health and Wellness » Mental Health » Death and Dying
- Health and Wellness » Aging » Death and Mourning
- Relationships & Family » Family History » Death Records
An article about the latest celebrity death would be classified under Entertainment & Media. Articles about coping with the death of a child would be classified under Family where as articles on coping with the death of an adult would go under the Mental Health category of Health and Wellness and the death of an elder under Aging. Articles about looking up genealogy records would be classified under Relationships & Family.
In this current system, there is no spot (yet) for articles on coping with the death of a pet, other than classifying the content under Pets & Animals, so this is an area that I will suggest to add.
Note: This page does not include the sub-subtopics. That would have made the page even longer.
