Here's a quick and easy Love Birds Printable Valentine Card that you can quickly make for the 14th February this year and it makes a cute design for kids to cut out and enjoy too. As well as using these for cards, you can also cut out and use the birds as sweet little gift tags or hanging ornaments if you punch a hole with a hole punch and add in a loop of string or ribbon.

This super cute design is made using a free graphic I've created which you can download from the tutorial page below to your own computer and print as often as you like. Also enclosed is a step by step photo tutorial which gives you some inspiration on how you can use it too.

#1 Fix the Image to Your Blank Card

Tweet Card 1bTweet Card 2Tweet Card 3

Cut around the border of your Love Birds image (you can download this after the instructions) and stick it onto a blank card front. My card is around 6 by 4 inches when closed. You can easily make your own cards just by folding a piece of card and cutting to the size you want.

I don't like using glue when making cards, except for glitter glue which is used for the final decorative touches. Glue is too messy and it can quickly ruin a good card.

Double-sided tape is great. It gives a really neat finish for card making. I prefer the tape which comes on a roll with backing paper. Stick the tape around each side of the image and just peel back the backing paper on 4 corners as shown.

You can then turn the image over and line it up where you want it on your card front. Pat it down, then carefully pull away the backing paper to stick your image down perfectly.

#2 Cut Two Images Out

You could just leave it at that and just stick the image onto your card front for a super quick and flat card. Maybe add some stickers or glitter glue on top.

Or you could build up the card and give it a 3D look by cutting out the birds from another print out and then stick them on top of the birds already on the card using 3D foam squares.

The love birds image I've designed is made to be layered and the birds are easy to cut out.

#4 Stick to Your Card

Pull away the backing paper from the 3D foam squares and carefully position the birds over the top of the birds on the front of your card.

With just a little extra work (or fun I should say) the card now has an added layer of interest to it.

I love making layered cards and part of the fun of crafting cards is choosing each part - adding papers, your main design, sentiments and embellishments - and then seeing how it all comes together at the end.

#5 Cut out Wings

The wings of the love birds are easy to cut out too and also layer up using the 3D foam squares. You might need some smaller scissors to cut round these neatly.

If your foam squares are too big, you can cut them smaller before you take them off the backing sheet. I'm always cutting mine to size. You can also buy foam squares which are tiny ones often used for 3D decoupage. It's a great idea to have these foam stickers in a variety of sizes.

#6 Stick onto Your Card

Stick the wings on top of the wings on your card and you've now got a gorgeously layered, hand crafted card. You can view my finished version at the top of this page. I added in a little ribbon bow which was stuck down with a mini glue dot and also some flat backed swarovski rhinestones for the bird eyes which were also stuck down with mini glue dots. I hope you've enjoyed reading my wizzles page today, thanks for your visit. These birdies would look cute as hanging ornaments too. Have fun!

Print Your Free Tweet Card Love Birds Image

Tweet Card 1a

For a super quick card, just print out one copy of the Love Birds design, cut it out and stick it onto a blank card. Printing it at just less than half the width of your standard printer paper is generally a good size for cards.

If I double-click on my image on my Windows laptop, I get the option to print 4 of these images to a page which is the best size for me. And if I choose 3 copies, I get just 3 of these images on one sheet which is perfect.

You might have a better system for printing out images. Some people like to insert images into Word or Open Office which makes it easy to gauge the size. Or you might want to open it into an art package. As a .jpg file, it will work with a huge variety of programs.
