Growing up in America made me proud, I am American and proud of it. We have to show our pride and bring back that feeling of unity among Americans. When people from other countries come here they do not feel the pride they use to, we need to show how we feel to be proud of our country so they will understand.
American Pride, My Way
by iggy
Americans are proud, we need to bring that feeling back. The younger generations have not experienced it yet.
In America we use to have a pride that meant something, we were proud to be Americans. Back in the 40’s and 50’s people would stand up for one another because they were Americans, today I see this less and less. We have been accepting so many people in from other countries that it has affected our beliefs. I know we are still proud of our nation and it was founded with the belief that we will accept all others because we are the same, some of the younger generations seem to have less pride for everything. And the ones that come here from other places have no pride at all for America. They feel they are owed something and view America as a place to live better by getting over on the system. I know we have natural born Americans that do this as well. Not everyone is this way, there are still plenty of very proud Americans.
I Am American
I think it is time to reestablish our pride in this country, America is a great place to live and we need to affirm that. People that come here need to be happy they are here and have a chance at a better life. This may be easy to say but how do we go about it, or is it to late to try and change things. I do not feel we are unable to make a difference, America is worth fighting for and I am going to do what I can.
The best way I can start is to lead by example and hope it catches on, I am going to start by showing my pride with my appearance and go from there. How you act and the way you carry yourself will show people you are proud and maybe they will want to be like you in that sense.
Problem Solvers
America seems to have established itself as the world’s police officers and goes into other countries to stop people from being mistreated, this is something we should be proud of. We stand up and do what is right when it needs to be done, we help those in need. The cost of it on our nation has increased our debt to an outrageous figure, and we as Americans have to foot the bill. It does not affect my pride in any way, I will stand tall and proudly state "I am American". It makes me proud that we are a country that does not stand by while these wrongs are being committed. It would please me if we did not owe anyone any money, our debt should be made a priority by our politicians. We should be able to stand on our own.
My Pride
Americans have always been proud, this will not go away easily if ever. I am glad we are the type of people that stand up when others need help. There is nothing anyone can do to take my pride away. When we were tested back in 2001 with a cowardly attack against us, look how we pulled together and helped one another. The way we support and look out for our fellows Americans is sought after by other countries, they want it and their people leave their homes and come here to get it. The American way is still alive and strong, it is just changing to meet the times.

Thank you Sir, I's be proud to call you a friend.
As a British friend of America I would find such a day strange, but I would instead encourage Americans to stand up and speak proudly in their countrys defence when people belittle it. You have much to be proud of.
I think that is a very patriotic idea and I would be for it.
Revisiting your wizzley caused me to consider something that I'd meant to include with my comment below, after the first reading.
Some offices have Friday as casual-wear, jeans-wearing day.
What would you think of a day every week or every month or every quarter or, perhaps more feasible, every season for wearing only red, white, blue colors in patterns restricted to lines, rectangles, squares, stars?
iggy, Thank you for the inspirational talk! In particular, I like the patriotic leggings.
It is good to see people who are proud of their country. It is, of course, not my country, but it is a great ally and friend of the United Kingdom, and we know that without American strength we would be in difficulties, and we are thankful for your support in the endless struggle for democracy and freedom. But remember, there are people who would undermine Americans' liberties. I am thinking of the politically correct who would undermine your cherished free speech. I agree with Dustytoes, that America needs some strong leaders, committed, I believe, to preserving liberty against its enemies.
America is still a wonderful place to live and I am proud to be an American. Our country needs some strong leadership, and I hope that will happen soon. Respect must be restored.
I am most certainly proud that I am an American! I cannot imagine how hard it must be to live in other countries and be policed by the government. Things have changed in this country since I was a child, but there is still hope for our futures!
