Aromatherapy uses essential oils for promoting a holistic healing for the mind, body and soul on a holistic level

There are many aromatherapy uses that we can all benefit from in our daily life. But first of all, what is aromatherapy?

It is a healing art that affects the body, mind and soul, making it holistic in nature. It is used mostly to create a positive environment that people can thrive in. While many individuals are commenting on the fact that it treated some of their health conditions, in fact aromatherapy is more of a helper than a curer in itself.

Aromatherapy has been used for over 5,000 years with great success to help with various health symptoms, to clean and purify the air and to make people feel better about the world around them. It's no wonder that our Western society has started using it in the recent years as well.

So what are some of the main uses of aromatherapy today and why do you need to use good quality essential oils to achieve best results?

Does Aromatherapy Benefit People Or It's Just In Our Mind?

Promotes Relaxation

By using pure essential oils, aromatherapy has the gift of helping us relax along with aiding in removing stress from our daily life. It can provide effective relief from stress, depression and anxiety and make a person feel much more positive overall. And in most cases, a positive outlook is the half battle won.

Some of the popular essential oils that promote relaxation and stress relief are chamomile, lavender, frankincense and rose. You can use them either in an oil diffuser for the aroma to spread in the room which you can then inhale, or you can even use these in your bath. Simply add a few drops to the hot water and then inhale this steamy air full of the fragrant oils.

Of course you can also use these in aromatherapy massage, however it is good to have a professional person do the massage or at least somebody who has some knowledge about the subject.

Helps With Pain Relief

There are many essential oils that help with reducing and even removing the symptoms of pain, such as headaches and migraines, pre-menstrual pain, tooth aches, and even arthritis and related joint problems.

Some of the oils that are successful used for this purpose are peppermint, chamomile and lavender. For example I use lavender essential oil any time I have a small open wound such as a cut, or even a mosquito bite.

Helps With Meditation

I meditate regularly and I often use aromatherapy in the form of essential oils in an oil burner to be surrounded by a pleasant and meditation inducing smell that really helps get in the alpha state quite fast. Sometimes I also use scented candles, however I find essential oils much more effective for that.

There is just something about pure essential oils used in aromatherapy that nothing else can achieve that effect they give.

Aromatherapy Uses With Essential Oils Vs Cheap Fragrance Oils

Before closing, I need to point out something quite important. If you are serious about getting involved with aromatherapy even just having a nice fresh smell surrounding you, avoid using cheap fragrant oils. Always use 100% pure essential oils. They will not only smell better, but also give you aromatherapy benefits that fragrant oils simply can't give.

The fragrant oils are made in laboratories using chemical compounds which try to imitate the smell of essential oils, however some studies a few years back showed that some of these cheap imitation oils can actually cause cancer, as they are carrying carcinogen elements. Sure, pure essential oils cost more, however you will reap life long benefits from them.

Simply consider fragrant oils akin to knock-offs of the real brand names made in a third world country. While they might look like the real deal, there are always easy ways to tell that you're walking around with some cheap handbags, or boots, or jeans, that cost a few dollarst at most.
