The mine is a mere gash in the mountainside overlooking Derwentwater, but don't try to descend it, as it is dangerous. I did a bit of rock climbing there in my twenties to get a barytes sample.I would not be up to it nowadays, I think.

You also find barytes in a small abandoned mine on Cat Bells, which is above Borrowdale,further down the valley from the Bassenthwaite area.

I have not enough information to go on, as I cannot see the gills, but I think that the fungus sprouting from the tree might be honey fungus, which is dangerous to trees. The woodland floor fungus I cannot identify.
