Manna, from Sicily, not from Heaven
The mark of a good idea is that other ideas flow from it. I have looked up Werner Keller's book, The Bible as History. Keller cites G. Ehrenburg, a German scientist who in 1823 discovered that tamarisk trees exude a sweet edible substance the ...

Manna, from Sicily, not from Heaven
Quite a high sugar content but not sugar as we know it so it is wonderful for diabetics. People there told me that many diabetics come to the island just to buy manna for use at home, but I do wonder why more is not known about this 'wonder ...

Manna, from Sicily, not from Heaven
Quite an interesting article. It seems to have a high sugar content, or did I not read properly. Of course names can also have evolved since Moses, especially in that the biblical words are translated. Perhaps it is not quite the biblical ...

Manna, from Sicily, not from Heaven
You're probably right about the folk memory. I believe it is also used in India in some dishes, in fact I have seen a photograph of it looking like a particularly thick soup, like a lentil soup that had been slightly blitzed to thicken it. No ...

Manna, from Sicily, not from Heaven
Cous-cous is fine textured. There is a clue here. Maybe we have a folk memory of the way in which manna was ground down and used. In fact, a cous-cous texture makes more sense, as it is easier to handle than anything with hoar frost texture.

Manna, from Sicily, not from Heaven
I used the biblical quote merely because when I mention manna people always ask me if it's connected. It can be used in so many ways, it's liquified for some dishes, ground down so that it has a cous-cous like texture for certain dishes, and ...

American Leopard Horses, Part 2
The Altai link is very interesting, but I suggest that the ancestors of the Amerindians did not migrate in one expedition, but filtered across over generations.

Manna, from Sicily, not from Heaven
This is a wonderful article, very informative. However, Exodus chapter 16 verse 14 says that manna was fine and granular, as fine as hoarfrost. This account was written five -seven hundred years after Moses, so it is not first hand, and the ...

TY. My photos are mainly from the North of England. Most people want to visit London which is just a city but the best of England is further North. My husband had never been North until he came to college here after London University 40 years ...

I Left Content Farms-What Happened
Even this year, from 2011-2015 I had one sale in January while using content farms. This year, January 2016, I have 10 orders already. Don't let people deter you with the rhetoric of if you move content to your site, it is like starting all ...

Learn About Owls
I have seen only a small number of owls. My best sighting was when I exited my house one evening and a barn owl swooped past me. Roughly the same time there was the hooting of a long eared owl, though I saw it not. One good sighting was early ...

The Philosopher and the Gospels: a review
Yes, that's purgatory, though I suppose that the difference is that hell is at least theoretically permanent where purgatory is not. I think that the problem is that Jesus gave few details on the next life, and we have had to speculate on how ...

American Leopard Horses, Part 2
This is a great read. I hadn't heard of the small region of Altai, home of the Altai horse, until very recently. By some very strange coincidence genetic testing of the skeleton of a Native ...
