Nautical Yard Decor: Sailboats
You aren't the only one who was surprised. And it's a very attractive one, too.

Getting Through a Power Outage
Good point about the availability of gas. After a tropical system, it's not uncommon at all to see "out of gas" signs at one service station after another.

Understanding Hurricanes
We hit 100 degrees yesterday, so some snow would be nice right now. But that seems extreme.

Getting Through a Power Outage
The solar battery does not require finding a service station open, which was a problem after Katrina for weeks. Oh, I have a friend who had a new generator, and someone turned it on without adding oil. Not good.

Loch Ness: new thinking about the monster
Completely right, Cruiseready. Sturgeon would be my second choice for the creature. As for introduced species, as Britain is an island, the problems of species introduction can be great, as native species might not have evolved to cope with ...

Understanding Hurricanes
We now have the phrase Blizzicane in New England. It's basically a winter hurricane. I was on Cape Cod two years ago when we had 70 mph sustained winds and 95 mph gusts. The whole while it was throwing snow instead of rain. It was a very scary ...

Hurricane Danger: Storm Surge
SO true about Katrina. Lots of people totally forget about the surge! In a city that sits largely below sea level, that's certainly not something to forget about!

Loch Ness: new thinking about the monster
The eel that you saw is almost certainly a large, well-fed version of the eel common in British and Irish inland waters, Anguilla anguilla. Well fed, they can grow large, though the limit on their growth is posed by the biological urge to go to ...

Who or What Made Them?
Your comments, Blackspaniel, are always apt, and I concur with your observation that proving God's existence before the Big Bang is impossible.Yet proof is a rare thing and we can make hypotheses, which are susceptible to justification rather ...
