The wildlife of an allotment site
Hedgehogs, as far as I know, are not native to the USA. They are nocturnal. We do not have coyotes or porcupines in Britain. We have never had them.

Belfast; HMS Caroline
Veronica, Thank you for taking us through the HMS Caroline. Amen: "Rest in peace to the men of both sides." Did the crew not have a lavatory? Did the hammocks of the crew stay in place or swing wildly with waves and wind? The sailors' table ...

Irish Myths and Legends ( 2 ) - The Children of Lir
Good point Derdriu Indeed, the Ancient Britons are believed to have adopted the "Celtic culture" as opposed to being originally Celtic themselves. The actual term Celtic only became used in approx. the 18th C .

Irish Myths and Legends ( 2 ) - The Children of Lir
Veronica, Isn't it interesting that Aoife became a demon of the air and that the children were restricted to swimming, not flying, as swans? It always looks to me like there's truth behind Celtic tales. Perhaps this story offers something on the ...

P's Peak
The week before the climb we exercised as much as possible, walking, badminton, dancing, aqua aerobics. The day before, we did a nine mile flatish walk. On the day, I informed people where we were going, took 3 fully charged mobile phones, ...

P's Peak
Veronica, I'm sorry to hear about your husband's diagnosis but impressed with what you all are doing, such as going on his favorite walks. Where did you all do your preparatory 9-mile flat walk? Is Braithwaite in the last 3 distance shots at ...

The wildlife of an allotment site
Thanks Frank. I think I would love to have some hedgehogs in my yard. Do you have coyotes or porcupines over there?

Hedgehogs are spiky insectivores similar to porcupines, but smaller. They are creatures that have never attacked a human and are much loved, especially by children, though they are in decline and are endangered. They gobble up some garden ...

Veronica, Dr. Li indicates effects within 20 minutes whether it's shinrin-yoku (forest bathing) indoors (with air-purifying houseplants, essential oil-scented candles and diffusers, natural foods, spring water drinks and warm soaks) or outdoors. ...

I don't know much about hedgehogs, so why do you like seeing them? Are they beneficial to the garden in some way? Do you not have raccoons? - it seems that you mentioned that once to me. Be thankful if you don't, they are destructive.

Shinrin-Yoku: Forest Bathing Year-Round, Indoors and Outdoors, for All
Absolutely delightful. What a wonderful concept. It is new to me. You mention how Shinrin-yoku has all those health benefits.... how many visits and how long should a visit be to achieve these health results?

No-Dig Gardening and Raised Beds - Good for the Soil and Easy for You
Thinking of raised beds! We have several newcomers on my allotment site, and most of them have taken to raised beds. One or two have been inspired by my raised beds on my second allotment, which are richly thriving.

The wildlife of an allotment site
The fox is going to have to change its strategy, for the flower bed from which she hunts has just been tidied. It is still rich and deep, but with less cover than previously. I suspect that she is going to have to find a hide in my flower bed, ...
