Dustytoes, wading was out this year. Rains had the streams running faster than normal, as evidenced by the waterfall that normally is much less of a flow.

I've been to the Smoky Mountains and stayed in a log cabin. We visited Cades Cove, and did the loop. We were close to the state park and waded in the streams. It's a beautiful area with lots of black bears!

I can't understand why people would do that. Hopefully nature will take over and win in the end, restoring the area to its natural self.
Your national Park service sounds similar to ours. IT helps stop over-commercialisation.

In 2016 the area came close to being lost. Two people set a fire that burned much, and several people died. The trees are charred on one side in some areas, and some of the tree tops are brown. But, most of the area is doing well.
