Benefits of Dead Sea Salt

by suranee69

The Dead Sea is an amazing place for its waters including the mud and salt extracted from it holds therapeutic powers which people from around the world come in search of.

A special lake lies between the West Bank, Israel and Jordan known as the Dead Sea. Plant and animal life do not exist there and the reason for this is said to be due to the high levels of salt in the water. The Dead Sea is about six times saltier when compared to the rest of the oceans and seas. Another interesting feature about this lake is people who come to bathe in it end up being able to float on the water.

The minerals and salts contained in the Dead Sea have amazing healing powers which are highly beneficial for the skin and body. This is why it has been used throughout the centuries especially by the ancient Egyptians to exfoliate and cleanse the skin and remove toxins from the body. Magnesium, calcium, potassium, iodine, bromide and zinc are some of the minerals found in the Dead Sea.

Homemade Dead Sea Bath Recipes

To take a bath with Dead Sea salt at home mix ½ cup Dead Sea salt into a warm bath. Soak in it for 15 minutes. Do this treatment twice a week if you want to maintain healthy skin. To soothe arthritis pain you can take this bath 3 to 4 times a week.

Some people are known to soak their feet in a basin of warm water for 10 minutes which has 1 tablespoon of Dead Sea salt added to it to maintain healthy feet.

A popular foot scrub made from Dead Sea salt is to mix 3 tablespoons of the salt with 1 tablespoon olive oil and massage on feet for 2 to 3 minutes. Then rinse off with warm water. The salt helps to remove dead skin and give the feet a good exfoliating while the olive oil acts as a moisturizer.

As with any treatment it’s best to first consult your health care provider/doctor to confirm whether you would benefit from using Dead Sea Salt and Dead Sea Mud remedies.

I did and now can't stop thinking about the bath and foot treatment. I'll need to order a 5lb page of dead sea salt ASAP. My two daughters will love it too. They both love doing spa treatments at home as do I. This is a great treatment to add to our regimen. :)K
