I have to confess, I am a Rottweiler lover, even though I don't have one at the moment. I have had several in my past and wouldn't discount having another one some day. They can be the gentlest of dogs and the bravest protector.
The rottie was developed from one of the oldest, if not the oldest herding dog. They make use of their powers of intimidation and their bodies to move stock. I have seen them do a body slam into a sheep that didn't want to move the right way.
They were called the "butcher's dog" because they were used to drive cattle and haul carts of meat or other produce to market. The owners would tie a bag around the dog's neck with their coins in it and no one would dare remove it. Their talents include herding, pulling carts, police work, schutzhund, search and rescue, tracking and a becoming a beloved member of the family.
Best Gifts for Rottweiler Lovers
by Ragtimelil
If you have a rottie or a friend with one, you know what great dogs they are. Here are some gifts any rottie lover would appreciate.
Rottweiler Tee Shirt
This is one of my favorite tee shirts with the sweet and intelligent face of a rottie. The sleeves make perfect ears for the image. I've illustrated it with a 3X but it comes in a wide range of sizes.
It is made of 100% pre-shrunk cotton or mostly pre-shrunk cotton. The images are professionally applied, not airbrushed.
Rottweiler Ornament
Christmas Ornament by Kurt Adler
There are other dog ornaments available with rotties as one of the models, but I loved the stance of this adorable dog. I'm sure it must be a female or a very young male. It has that cuddly puppy look to it.
It is made out of resin and is painted to look realistic with a blue collar and a little bell. The ornament is approximately 4 inches tall and the bone can be personalized.
Rottie Mousepad
This is a mousepad from my Zazzle Store that was created from a little painting I did of my rottie. I digitally modified it and had it imprinted on this mousepad. Rotties are known for their ability to protect and this one will protect your desk and your mouse too.
The pad measures 9.25" x 7.75" and is perfect for any desk or work space. It is printed with a full color process. Durable cloth cover is dust and stain resistant with a non-slip backing.
Rottweiler Plush Toy
Comes with a warning - Small parts. Not for children under 3 yrs.
Rottweiler Mug
Whether you're a coffee or tea drinker, if you love rotties, you will appreciate one on your mug. It's a great way to start the day and show your appreciation for these fantastic dogs.
This is from the same painting as above but left in its original state.
This mug has a large, easy to hold handle and is dishwasher and microwave safe. It comes in 11 oz and 15 oz sizes. You can pick the style you like best. Makes a great gift!
If you don't see the exact item you want, let me know and I can most likely do one up for you.
Rottie Picture Frame
Here's a little gift to brighten your day. It's a delightful picture frame for home or office with your favorite breed of dog holding your picture for you. He might be guarding it, but he looks pretty happy at the moment. It makes a great gift for your rottie loving friend.
This little rottie is hand painted and measures 7 x 3.8 inches. It holds a 2 ½ by 3 ½ inch photo.
Rottweiler Messenger Bag
This is another charcoal drawing I did of my rottie many years ago. I imprinted it on several items that are for sale in my Zazzle store.
I love these little bags that are a great alternative to the standard purse. This bag features two interior compartments for your personal items. Carefully constructed in San Francisco with a focus on environmental sustainability, this bag combines form, function, and a small ecological footprint. It is water resistant, extra durable (machine-washable) and measures 8" H x 9" W x 4" D.

Rottie Remarks
You are so right. I used to train for a rottie kennel and just loved them all. I think the ins. thing in criminal!
I love the shirt too.!
I too love Rotties! I've had 2 of them and they were awesome. I hate that they get a bad rap because of idiot owners who treat them poorly. Now some insurance companies won't accept you for homeowners if you have this breed. It's stupid. They are super intelligent and loyal. That shirt is great!
