If you love buying and wearing necklaces, it can be a really frustrating experience if you try one on in the store and it's just a tiny bit too short. Or, even if the store does the necklace in a couple of different lengths, the shorter length is too short, while the longer length is slightly longer than you want! If you only want a couple of inches' extra length, then the sterling silver extender chain by Carat Cache (see below) would be a good choice. Again, this has a spring ring clasp and is 2.5 inches long.

If you're not sure just how much extra length you need (but you know it's at least three inches), then Emitations' sterling silver adjustable necklace extender could be just what you need. This works differently to the two extender chains I've featured above: you clasp each end of the necklace extension to each end of your chain, and then slide it to make the adjustment. The same company also does a gold version and a gift pack - one silver and one gold.

Finally, if you just want silvertone or goldtone, rather than precious metals, then Serenity Crystals does a handy six-piece set comprising three silvertone and three goldtone necklace extender chains, with a 1 inch, two inch and four inch extender chain in each colour.
