It's very difficult and for what ever reason the need remains a constant. Relax because it is okay to get your carb fix and still lose weight.

The Three Favorite Carbs

What are the three most popular and addictive carbs?

The three common carbohydrate rich foods carb lovers crave most are bread, chips and pasta.  You may crave one or all three carbs regardless of which you can now eat them without the guilt and still lose weight.  Carbs are a healthy addition to any diet and yet once we try to eliminate them we crave them more.  Why? Because our bodies need the nutrients commonly found in these carbohydrate rich foods.  Plus carbs give us a quick rush of energy.  The down side is the fall from the rise leaving us wanting more carbohydrate rich foods.  To much of a good thing is bad, it's true and yet many of us set a pattern or cycle depending on carbs for energy eating far more that we should making ourselves fat, over weight and tired.

Many things cause routine fatigue Lack of sleep makes you tired, gain weight and drive drowsy a serious danger. Review the cures and methods to rid sleepiness from your day.

The Least Fattening Pasta

What's the best most healthy pasta that does not promote weight gain?

It's most often the cheap commercial brands of potato chips and pasta we become addicted to. With a little creative know how you, me and every carb loving human on the planet can enjoy great tasting healthy carbs that won't increase our waste lines.

If you like Chinese food you've no doubt eaten rice pasta.  It's delicious and nutritious without the bad white flour we know to pack on the pounds.  We don't think about eating rice pasta because we were raised on the simple starches as a child. Luckily we now have options, we've been over looking them but they're there.  Rice pasta now comes in every form you grew to love as a kid and it's delicious. The next time you're at the market, instead of reaching for the same ole pasta you always do, look for brown rice pasta.  It's the carbohydrate super pasta you can eat and lose weight.

Chips That Won't Make You Fat

Eat satisfying chips to beat the carbohydrate weight.

More than anything we chip lovers are addicted to the salty crunch of chips. We also love the flavorful intensity of chips. Chips waken the taste buds and shake things up a bit.  All the satisfaction of a chip can be found in lentil chips.  Lentils are packed with nutrition and flavor. They're a great source of dietary fiber, have less than 70% of the fat of potato chips. Lentil chips are celiac and vegetarian friendly.

Bread That's Not Fattening

Imagine forgetting about your carb cravings as you can now eat carbs and stop weight gain.

You can in fact still lose weight while eating bread, chips and pasta. Yes it's true and yet there are good carbs that can both satisfy and support your weight loss efforts . The next food to consider is bread, sandwiches can be very healthy and yet the bread is often the ingredient making the sandwich fattening.  A german whole rye sourdough bread can take bread from the offenders spot into the weight loss winners circle.  This bread can be found at your local health food store as is called Volkornbrot.  This is a soft, chewy and delicious bread leaving any bread loving carb addict satisfied.  The fact its a sourdough bread adds to the beauty. Sourdough bread takes longer for the body to process and digest therefore requiring more calories to burn. It's filling giving you all the comfort of bread.  Switching to this bread alone, eating it instead of your usual commercial bread can add a 5 pound a year weight loss to your dieting efforts.

There's no reason why you can't have your carbohydrates and eat them too. Enjoy, Katie

sheilamarie, The lentil chips are delicious, my teenagers love them as well. Kid tested and mother approved chips low in fat and high in healthy carbs.

Miaden, Great to hear about the doctors carbohydrates experiment.

I've never heard of lentil chips before, but they sound good!

One American doctor made an experiment on himself. He spent few months eating only carbs (which are considered fat gain food), but he limited them to 1500 calories per day. This is less than needed dayly intake of energy. He lost 15 kilos in those few months being only on carb diet.
The point is: carbs are not the reason someone gains weight, it is the quantity. At least in theory, and in this experiment. :)

But in my oppinion, health is more important than weight. So, be careful with carbs. Katie, you put some great products in your article. Veg and celiac friendly, with less fat... I assume, with such diet, you will loose weight, but won't harm your health.

grandi, I love potatoes too, I like mine boiled or baked plain with a dash of pepper and sea salt, if people would give potatoes a go plain I think they would find just how amazing the are alone. Plus, very nutritious and non fattening when eaten alone boiled or baked! Good point!

Potatoes are my all-time favourite carbs.
When I need to drop off a pound or two, I use to wash potatoes thorougly and cook them in a boiling water. Afterwards, I peel off the skin and eat the potatoes that are tasty and tremendously filling.
For someone more demanding, a spoon of quark cheese or slice of hard cheese would improve the meal significantly!
