An electric leaf shredder is an awesome garden tool, more so because they allow you to recycle the fall debris that we all have to deal with. Most of us have a variety of trees around our yards and once fall arrives - the yard/leaf clean-up begins.
Often wet and heavy, fallen leaves are difficult to dispose off. Some of us also live in areas that lack a community leaf collection, so the most efficient method of disposal is to shred, mulch and compost it all down. By using a leaf shredder mulcher you're turning the debris into eco-friendly mulch or compost.
The five best garden leaf shredders are featured below, any one of which will prove to be a great investment - especially when you factor in the recycling apsect. Clearing leaves, brush and twigs is no fun, which is why a shredder is a must have yard tool.

The Flowtron LE900 is the best selling electric leaf shredder available. It's reliable, user friendly and will prove to be an admirable aid when it comes to the fall yard clean-ups. There is a minor issue with it - it's not going to chew through twigs and branches. Having said that, the Flowtron is an entry level shredder mulcher and you can't expect a budget garden tool to work beyond its limits.
Another of the best leaf shredder models is the Eco Shredder ES1600. It's equipped with a 14 amp motor and shreds by way of a V shaped blade. The power and blades together make this the better choice of shredder if you've got more than a few piles of leaves to dispose of. The Eco will dispatch twigs, sticks and brush with ease and of course make short work of clippings and various types of leaves.
The Patriot is the best high end electric leaf shredder. What are you getting for the best part of a thousand bucks? You're getting a machine that will ably deal with heavier work - the usual leaves, twigs and brush, plus sticks and branches up to 2 1/2 inches in diameter. It chips wood into fairly small pieces and a combination of leaves and twigs will produce a fine mulch - great for keeping the plants cosy through the winter.
The WORX WG is another of the best entry level electric leaf shredder/mulchers and like the frist product, it's reliable for lightweight yard work. It's powered by a 13 amp motor and shreds by way of trimmer line. It weighs in at 20lbs and yet it's sturdy enough to turn your leaves into mulch without issue. The WORX will reduce down to 1/11 of the original volume - which means you'll be left with one bag of mulched leaves rather than 11.
Another mid-range electric leaf shredder, the McCulloch will handle up to a 1 1/2" diameter size twig/branch. That doesn't sound too big but the kind of debris most of us find in the yard during the fall doesn't involve the bigger stuff. This is a bladed shredder, no trimmer line so it will make short work in relation to moderate debris. The fact that's it's powered by electricity reduces the noise and the patented hopper design - it prevents hands/fingers from coming into contact with the blade - is another big plus.
